There was a wonderful Memorial Day presentation at the Colman High School today. I love that they name each community member of the military that was killed in action dating back to the Civil War. A special mention to my uncle Harold Leonard Martens - KIA - Korean War.

22 miles. One road, one purpose, one step at a time.

Last Saturday, I walked from St. Joseph Shrine in DePere to Our Lady of Champion.

There were moments it felt long, moments it felt hard, and moments I wondered if I could finish.

But the truth is — you don’t walk 22 miles by focusing on mile 22. You do it by focusing on the very next step.

That’s the same lesson I see in business.

As business owners, we set big goals and sometimes those “22-mile goals” feel overwhelming.

But success doesn’t come from leaps. It comes from consistency:
➡ Showing up when you don’t feel like it
➡ Keeping your promises to yourself and your customers
➡ Trusting the process when you can’t see the finish line yet

The people who build great businesses are the ones who refuse to stop walking.

If you’re in a season where it feels long… heavy… uncertain…

Keep going. Keep stepping. Keep believing.

Because those small, steady steps? They’re adding up more than you think.

And one day, you’ll look back and realize—you made it farther than you ever imagined.

Happy Small Business Week! Many moons ago, I had to admit that owning and building a business was not as easy as I thought it would be. My daily mantra, "Lord Have Mercy" was spoken so much, my staff bought me my own personal sign! The struggle, my friends, is real, but so is the reward! Have a great week!

The IRS has announced that the 2025 tax return filing season will begin on February 16, 2026. There are no changes to the requirement for employees to receive W2's or subcontractors to receive 1099's by January 31.
