Ever wondered how Trace Financial got its name?
Originally, it started with something simple: my love of Buffalo Trace — the first bourbon I ever genuinely liked. The name stuck with me, so before committing to it, I did my due diligence to make sure no one in my industry was already using it.
That’s when I came across a comparison of vouch accounting and trace accounting. And suddenly, everything clicked.
As I read through the differences, it became clear that trace accounting wasn’t just a concept — it was exactly the type of work we already perform at Trace Financial. Our entire practice is built on three core pillars:
🔹 Traceability — Every number follows a clear path from source → system → ledger → workpapers. No gaps, no guesswork.
🔹 Interpretation — We don’t just report numbers; we explain the story behind them and what they mean for operations, tax, and compliance.
🔹 Defensibility — Our workpapers are audit‑ready, narrative‑complete, and built so that any professional can understand the financial truth without digging.
The name wasn’t just available.
It was kismet — a perfect match for the work we already do and the standard we hold. Let us know if we can help you.
