Grove City Tomorrow

Grove City Tomorrow Clean energy is on the ballot in Grove City! But there’s more. And anyone who doesn’t want to participate can opt out at any time with no penalties or fees.

This November, voters in Central Ohio's largest and fastest-growing suburb will decide on Issue 10, an initiative to enact Community Choice Aggregation for 100% renewable energy. If approved, Issue 10 would allow the city to negotiate electricity rates on behalf of eligible residents and businesses. More than 300 other local communities in Ohio have aggregated their electricity supply, obtaining l

ow bulk purchase rates for those who choose to participate without raising taxes or utility bills. Through Community Choice Aggregation, the city can leverage the electricity demand of its residents and businesses to contract with a utility ready to build out a supply of 100% renewable energy, creating good-paying jobs in manufacturing, construction, and maintenance right here in Ohio. Issue 10 gives us the choice to save money, create jobs, lower pollution, and invest in our own community — all in one program. The Clean Grove City campaign is co-chaired by Ted Berry and Cathy Cowan Becker.

A new analysis by Rewiring America, an energy policy organization, finds that households would benefit financially from a complete switch to clean energy sources such as solar and wind. More than 40% of energy emissions are determined by appliances in and around the home, according to the report, such as heating, electricity, refrigeration and car use.

Should all of these related factors be fully electrified and sourced from clean energy, households could save as much as $321bn in energy costs, the report finds, or up to $2,500 a household a year. Households would be faced with the upfront costs of installing solar panels and electric devices such as stovetops and heat pumps, but Rewiring America says strong government assistance for renewables would help deliver long-term savings.

“If we electrify everything, the savings are more than enough to return money to households,” said Adam Zurofsky, executive director of Rewiring America. “Too often we are told doing the right thing for the environment requires sacrifice and costs more. But no one is talking about the upside – we can actually make a better economy and save people money and a byproduct will be to cut emissions from residential buildings.”

It has come to our attention that a flier went out under the Clean Grove City name with a number of spelling errors. We deeply apologize for that - the errors do not reflect the text that we sent to the printer, but were inserted during the printing process. The correct flier that we sent is posted below. We believe in the electric aggregation program as a way to lower both energy costs for Grove City residents and carbon emissions in our environment. We would be happy to discuss the benefits of Issue 10 with anyone - just message our page. You can also get a lot of your questions answered on our website at https://yesforissue10.com
