Tax Tip - The IRS officially opens on the 23rd! We cannot efile before then !

Financial - The 2016 IRA contribution limit is $5,500 if you are under age 50 and $6,500 if you are over age 50

Financial Friday (on Saturday 😬)

To add to my last week post - if you aren't covered by a plan with your employer consider contributing to an IRA. It's not to late for a 2016 contribution! You have until April 17th !

Running a tax estimate is the best way to see if you are limited. In most cases for every $1000 you can contribute it saves you $200 in tax !

Tax Tip Tuesday - Not so much a tip - but be prepared, the IRS is now requiring that your drivers license or another form of identification be entered within the tax return. Our programs will not allow us to efile without one. This is a good thing. With many people out there filing under someone elses SSN - this is one more step the IRS is taking to reduce identity theft.

Tax Tip Tuesday ! First one of the year !!

If you itemize your deductions try saving ALL of your receipts this year. My guess is you actually pay more in sales tax than what the IRS gives you a deduction for !

Tax Tip Tuesday - It is always better to file when you owe even if you dont send in all of the money - WHY? The failure-to-file penalty can be 10 times more than the failure-to-pay penalty.
