Waiting on your tax refund and wondering where it is? We get it—it’s always nice to know when to expect that check or direct deposit!

Here’s how you can track your federal or state refund:

1 Track Your Federal Refund:
---> Head over to the IRS "Where's My Refund?" tool on IRS.gov. You’ll need your Social Security number, filing status, and the exact refund amount. The tool updates every 24 hours, so check back regularly for the latest status.

2 Track Your State Refund:
---> Each state has its own tracking system. Simply visit your state’s Department of Revenue or Taxation website and look for "Where’s My Refund?" You’ll need info such as: your SSN, filing status, and refund amount.

Remember, it can take a few weeks for your refund to process, so don’t worry if it’s not there yet! Need help or have questions? Many Happy Returns is here for you—just reach out!

Tax season is here, and so are the scammers! 🚨 Don’t fall for tax scams that promise big refunds, pressure you for personal info, or demand immediate payments.

Stay safe with these tips:

✅ If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is! Don’t trust random tax advice on social media.
✅ The IRS won’t threaten or demand payment—anyone who does is a scammer.
✅ Check website links carefully—only use IRS.gov for official info.

Protect yourself and your refund! Stay alert and always verify.

1 more week… it’s crunch time!

Let’s check out some key facts and tax tips.

~ The IRS has processed over 80 million returns in the week ending 3/22

~ Tax returns and extensions can be submitted electronically or by mail by April 15 for most taxpayers to avoid significant penalties, unless extensions are granted

~ A mailed tax return is considered on-time if it is “properly addressed, has enough postage, is postmarked, and is deposited in the mail by the due date,” even if it reaches the federal government after April 15

~ Residents in Maine and Massachusetts have until April 17 to file tax returns due to both states’ observance of Patriots Day

~ Individuals and businesses across 10 states affected by natural disasters have received varying extensions for filing, including Alaska, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maine, Michigan, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Washington, and West Virginia

2 more weeks!

But… April 15th isn't just for filing taxes—it's also the due date for your first quarterly estimated tax payment!

Quarterly estimated tax payments are periodic payments made by individuals and businesses to cover their tax liabilities throughout the year. This is particularly important for those who don't have taxes withheld from their income, such as self-employed individuals, freelancers and investors.

*You can pay online through the IRS website using Direct Pay or Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS). Alternatively, you can mail a check or money order along with Form 1040-ES to the IRS*

With the tax deadline less than three weeks away, you might find yourself pressed for time. Filing an extension could be the solution!

Simply fill out IRS Form 4868 to request extra time. Remember, while this grants you more time to file, it doesn't extend the deadline for paying taxes owed. Estimate your liability and make payments to avoid penalties.

Stay organized and ensure accuracy even with the extension! Questions? Reach out to a Many Happy Returns expert!

Need more time to pay your taxes?

To steer clear of penalties, make sure to file and settle your taxes by the deadline, even if you can’t pay what you owe.

Individuals and businesses can request an online payment plan to gradually pay off the balance. Keep in mind that there are associated fees.

1099 Vs. W-2: What’s The Difference?

A W-2 is an employee’s statement detailing compensation, benefits, and taxes withheld, required for part-time or full-time employees earning at least $600 for services.

On the other hand, a 1099-NEC is for nonemployee workers, like independent contractors, paid at least $600, without tax withholding.

When classifying workers, the IRS considers behavioral control, financial aspects, and the nature of the relationship with the employer.
