October is Down Syndrome awareness month and Mid-Term elections are right around the corner. I know, those statements do not seem to have a connection. However, it does provide the opportunity for one important reminder. We are much more alike than we are different. We will not agree with friends, family, and co-workers when it comes to voting in a week, but can we try to be quicker at identifying our commonalities. This November, let's make an extra effort to search for connection instead of division.

Culture of Compliments: An article from the Harvard Business Review pointed out an interesting dynamic between criticism and compliments. Often times we are too critical on our own delivery of a compliment that we miss opportunities to compliment others. The encouragement this week for all of us is to just do it. Just compliment. Don't overthink it.

Social Security just announced a 3.6% raise for 2027.

That’s the biggest bump in three years, about $75 more a month for the average retiree, starting in January.

Before you spend it, though, remember that Medicare Part B premiums usually come out of that same check, and the 2027 numbers won’t be out until mid-November.
