A few things worth reviewing now:
✔️ Retirement contributions (IRA, SEP, SIMPLE plans)
✔️ Any changes in income this year
✔️ Estimated tax payments—are they still on track?
✔️ Opportunities for charitable giving strategy
✔️ Timing of expenses and deductions for businesses

Small adjustments made now can make a big difference when tax season comes around. Waiting until January or April usually means fewer options—but mid-year gives you flexibility.

📣 The IRS has announced the updated standard deduction amounts for 2026 — and most taxpayers will see a slight increase due to inflation adjustments.

For 2026, the standard deduction will be:
✔️ $16,100 for Single filers
✔️ $32,200 for Married Filing Jointly
✔️ $24,150 for Head of Household

There are also additional deductions available for taxpayers age 65+ and those who are blind. 👀

While these increases may seem small, they can still impact your tax planning, withholding, and overall taxable income heading into next year.

Stop hoarding every receipt. 🛑 If your filing system is a shoebox, here is the breakdown of what actually needs to stay.

Keep the physical receipts for:
— Meals & Entertainment (the ones that qualify) ☕
— Office Supplies (everything from ink to desks)
— Equipment (any big-ticket items)
— Travel (flights, hotels, etc.) ✈️

Keep a detailed log for:
— Mileage (Date, purpose, and total miles)
— Income (Invoices, deposits, and earnings reports)

The Timeline: Keep it all for 7 years.

It doesn't have to be perfectly organized. Even just a simple monthly folder system is a win. The goal is to have the backup if you need it—no perfection required. If you’re still using the "shoebox method," don't worry. We've all been there! 🤝
