March proved to be a turbulent month with conflict with Iran sending oil prices skyrocketing and compounding inflation that was already proving hard to tame. A big story from March was the March 17-18 Federal Reserve (Fed) meeting, which saw the Fed hold rates steady. That empty spot on my wall is still empty.

Earlier this week I sat for the CFP® exam.

I didn't pass. I guess I’m a “provisional failure” technically.

That's not easy to say out loud, but it's the truth and I've already hit all the stages of grief. I don’t know if I’ve ever failed a test before. (Got a C in a college biology class once though and was distraught)

Upset? Yes. Frustrated? Very. Giving up? Not a chance.

The CFP® exam is regarded by many as one of the most rigorous exams in financial planning, and the bar exists for good reasons. That test was ROUGH. The months long studying and hours of practice tests have already made me feel like a better planner for my clients.

So…back to studying, practice tests, late nights, and working on weekends. I'll be back. I'll retake it. And when that spot on the wall finally gets filled, it'll mean so much more.

A huge shoutout to my fiancé, who will put up with months more of studying that pull me away from wedding planning. Thank you to my family who continues to encourage me and to the rest of the Strategic Financial crew that continue to support me as well.

This story’s not quite over so stay tuned.

Three degrees on the wall.

One empty spot left.

In a couple weeks I sit for the CFP® exam. If all goes well, that final spot gets filled and this wall finally looks complete.

The Undergrad/MBA built the foundation. (Southwest Baptist University)
The ChFC® sharpened the planning. (The American College of Financial Services)
The CFP® is one of the most recognized credentials in my profession. (CFP Board)

I'm not chasing letters for the sake of letters. I pursue them because the families I work with deserve depth, discipline, and a plan that holds up when life does not go according to plan.

I appreciate the prayers, encouragement, and patience while I’ve been taking classes and studying.

It's almost "go-time".
