Seeing this message on “Where’s My Refund?” Don’t panic.
Many taxpayers are starting to see this notice that says their return processing has been delayed beyond the normal timeframe.
Here’s what that usually means:
✔️ The IRS is still reviewing the return
✔️ Your return may have been pulled for additional verification
✔️ The IRS may be checking income, credits, or dependents
✔️ Sometimes it’s simply processing backlog
This message does NOT automatically mean something is wrong.
The IRS updates the Where’s My Refund tool once per day, so checking it multiple times a day will not change the status.
📌 What you should do:
• Continue checking Where’s My Refund
• Watch your mail in case the IRS sends a letter requesting information
• Be patient while the IRS completes their review
Most delays are completely outside of your tax professional’s control and are handled directly by the IRS.
If the IRS needs anything from you, they will send an official letter with instructions.
, we will always assist our clients if the IRS requests additional information.
💡 Remember: A delay does not mean denial. It simply means the IRS is still processing.

Profit or loss from business (Schedule C)
It is easier for income to go unreported and business and personal assets to get comingled when you carry on a business. Therefore, don’t abuse the deduction for meals, entertainment, and mileage expenses by claiming excessive amounts or failing to allocate your personal and business expenses separately.

You should keep excellent books and records to substantiate your expenses and business use (e.g., mileage logs or phone app

One of the biggest priorities during tax season isn’t just filing — it’s filing correctly.

Many IRS notices and follow-up letters happen not because someone did something intentionally wrong, but because:
• information didn’t match what the IRS already had
• income was reported inconsistently
• details were missed or misunderstood

Working with a professional helps reduce these issues by ensuring your return is prepared carefully, reviewed thoroughly, and submitted accurately.

WARNING FOR 2026 🚨

Y’all please don’t play with tax season this year. The IRS is cracking down heavy in 3 big areas, so let’s stay ready:

1️⃣ Dependents
If you’re claiming a child or someone else, be prepared to prove they actually lived with you. Keep things like:
✅ school records • ✅ medical paperwork • ✅ lease • ✅ utility bills (anything showing your address)

2️⃣ Side Income / Extra Money
If you’re getting paid through Cash App, Zelle, Venmo, PayPal, or even cash—it still counts.
Keep:
✅ bank deposits • ✅ invoices • ✅ receipts • ✅ payment screenshots • ✅ 1099s (if you get them)

3️⃣ Filing Status (Head of Household)
To file Head of Household, you need proof you paid most of the household expenses and supported a qualifying dependent:

Keep:
✅ rent/mortgage • ✅ utilities • ✅ childcare • ✅ groceries • ✅ insurance

⚠️ No proof = delays, audits, or having to pay it back.

File smart. Stay organized. Be audit-ready. The IRS is serious in 2026. 💯

If you need help getting prepared, send me a message and let’s get you set up the right way. ✅

Schedule C =Business Returns

When the IRS audits your Schedule C, they’re going off documentation.
This is what they look for:
 Business bank statements
 Invoices & receipts
 Signed contracts
Proof of advertising or active operations
 Mileage logs
Clear explanation of the business purpose for each expense.
If it’s not documented, it’s not deductible.
Operate like a business. Keep records like a business. File like a professional.

Should inmates file tax returns 🤔?
If they are eligible and meet the requirements yes

Can they file back taxes?
Yes you to 3 years

What are the requirements?
- The inmate must have taxable income such as; W2s, 1099s etc prior to serving time
- Prison Work Income counts as well and is taxable

How should an inmate go about filing taxes?
- Have all tax income forms sent to a reliable address
- Not required but definitely recommended to appoint a trustworthy representative to file form 2848 for a Power Of Attorney to act on the inmates behalf
- The representative must have a valid ID
- File form 8965 for health care exemption
- Definitely look into eligibility for other tax credits
