Quick question... Is your bookkeeping up to date, or is your bank account just "living its best life" without you?

If opening QuickBooks, Xero or your personal spreadsheet makes you want to suddenly clean the garage or do the dishes instead, you're probably my kind of client!

I organize the numbers, reconcile the accounts, and turn financial chaos into clear reports you can actually understand.

If you are a business owner whose books are a little... let's say... "creatively organized," send me an email to set up a free consultation meeting to see if I can help you get financially organized.

I'm Jill Jackson with HVL Bookkeeping. You focus on growth—I handle the numbers. HVLbookkeeping.com

Are you a business owner that wants to be able to spot trends, manage cash flow and plan for growth with confidence?

Last week, I posted about the importance of keeping good records of customer payments and deposits. Today, I'd like to share another way organized bookkeeping helps business owners.

Many business owners know how much money is in their bank account, but they aren't always sure how much profit they're actually making. Without accurate bookkeeping, it's difficult to see which products or services are most profitable, where expenses are increasing, or whether the business is meeting its financial goals.

When your books are up to date, you can make informed decisions based on real numbers instead of guesswork. You can spot trends, manage cash flow, and plan for growth with confidence.

I would love to set up a free consultation with you, as a business owner who wants a clearer picture of their finances and more time to focus on running their business. Contact me through my website HVLbookkeeping.com

Are you a new or growing business owner? Keeping good records of customer payments and deposits doesn't just make bookkeeping easier—it saves time, reduces errors, and ultimately saves money. The more time a bookkeeper spends researching transactions to match their deposits, the more it can cost a business owner.

If you are ready to get your financial books organized, please send me an email. I would love to meet up with you and see how I can help out. Email me through my website: HVLbookkeeping.com

Pay Me Now or Pay Me Later 💡

When you're just starting a business, you may not need a monthly bookkeeper yet. But getting your financial systems organized from the beginning can save you time, stress, and money down the road.

Too many business owners wait until tax time, a loan application, or rapid growth forces them to untangle months—or even years—of messy records. By then, cleanup often costs far more than setting things up correctly from the start.

You may not need a monthly bookkeeper, but having a simple spreadsheet to track your income, expenses, and key financial information is a smart way to stay organized and build a strong foundation for growth.

Invest a little time now and avoid paying a lot more later.

Here's a question: If you use your business account to buy groceries, is it a business expense?
The answer is no. It's called an Owner's Draw—money taken out of the business for personal use. The problem is that many business owners don't know the difference, and their books quickly become a mix of personal and business transactions.
When that happens, it's harder to understand profitability, harder to make decisions, and much more difficult at tax time.

As a middle school math teacher for 25 years, I learned how to take complicated information and explain it in a way people can actually understand.

It turns out, business finances and middle schoolers have a lot in common—they don’t make sense until someone explains them clearly.

That’s exactly how I approach bookkeeping.

Many business owners avoid their financial reports because they feel overwhelming. But your numbers are telling you a story:

• Are you profitable?
• Are your expenses too high?
• Is your cash flow improving—or getting tighter?

If you're behind on your books, confused by your numbers, or feeling stressed about tax time, I’d be happy to connect and see how I can help bring clarity and confidence to your financials.

Most business owners don’t struggle because they’re bad at what they do—they struggle because they don’t have clear numbers.

Without good bookkeeping:
You don’t really know if or how you’re making money
Tax time is stressful and expensive
And decisions feel like guessing

With a bookkeeper:
Your books are accurate and up to date
You understand your numbers
And your CPA can focus on strategy instead of cleanup

I help business owners get their books organized, caught up, and CPA-ready—so they can feel confident in their business again.

I would love to talk to you about how I can help your business' financial organization.
