Hello dear clients & friends. We have come to the tough decision to close our office this Friday, May 22, 2026 to walk in traffic. As we have said, this place doesn't work without our brain, Brian Swinford. It's been an honor to serve this community since 1972 starting with Don Swinford then the handoff after his retirement to Brian. You are what made this business a success for such a long time and we thank you all.

Please note, we will be keeping all our files digitally available for the next several years. You can request copies anytime to our email that will stay active at [email protected] or through our Facebook chat. We can forward any of your tax documents to you or your next tax professional.

Thank you again for your business and friendship. You have been the best clients a tax team could ask for.

Blessings,
Tina Swinford

Hello all, we are keeping limited hours (Monday & Wed, 9am-4pm) for the rest of April & May. We will provide information soon on the future of the Tax office.

The good news is that we are completing Homestead forms for all clients who came to us this last tax season. You just need to sign the form at the bottom on the back and we will do the rest including mailing. You can drop off or if we are not here, please us our secure lock box next to our door outside. We check it daily. For questions you can email us at [email protected].

04/16/2026

Dear tax clients, we’re taking a day of rest today and tomorrow after tax season.

03/31/2026
03/30/2026

Please note we will be closed today due to a medical emergency. We will be in open Tues, March 31th.

01/27/2026

Well, we are open today, thanks to a Good Samaritan who bladed our front sidewalk. However, we have no street parking in front of our office, even though the adjacent Herrin Elks parking lot has been cleared. We recommend that people wait another day or two before stopping by, until the city can get the street fully cleared of all this snow.

We are working today, until at least 4:00 p.m. We are available by phone 618-942-6649 or you can email us at [email protected].

01/25/2026

Due to the recent winter storm that dropped 12–14 inches of snow on Herrin and the dangerously low temperatures expected, our office will remain closed until at least Tuesday. Please do not visit the office until we announce that we have reopened.

If you have an appointment scheduled for Monday or Tuesday, we will be in touch to reschedule. We are continuing to work on tax returns remotely from home, and you are welcome to email your documents to [email protected] so we can get started or keep your return moving.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. Please stay safe over the next few days while the snow and ice are cleared from the roads and sidewalks.

Hello everyone...

We are open today until 5:30 p.m. Generally during tax season, we are also open on Saturdays, but because of impending bad weather, we will not be open on Saturdays until January 31.

We will be back on Monday morning if roads are passible. Please stay safe this weekend!

I might be doing taxes from home over the weekend, but you would have to email your documents to [email protected].

Hello friends,

Thank you all for your patience and understanding over the past several months. As many of you know, we had to take some time away for medical reasons, but I’m thrilled to share that we’re officially reopening tomorrow for the 2025 tax season!

I’m especially happy to announce that Donna Jeralds is back to run the front office—this marks her 7th tax season with us. And, of course, Tina and Angie will be returning as well. It’s great to have the full team together again.

A quick reminder: we’re not a walk-in service like the large franchise offices. We do accept new clients this year, but as always, our existing clients have scheduling priority. New clients will need to call ahead to set up an in-person appointment. If you’re coming to us with complex IRS issues or multiple years to catch up, we may recommend filing an extension so that we can give your situation the attention it deserves—especially since our small office is responsible for over 900 returns within a 90-day window.

Returning clients can drop off their tax documents in person or email them whenever everything is ready. There’s no need for an appointment unless you’d like to discuss something in detail or are traveling from out of town.

New for 2025: under the One Big Beautiful Bill, credits for tips and overtime now appear on your W-2. If you earn tips, you’re all set—no extra documentation is needed. However, if you’re an hourly employee who works overtime, please bring a printout or screenshot of your final December pay stub (or your last paycheck from the job). You may be eligible for a deduction related to your overtime pay—the “half” in “time and a half.” We’ll review that figure during your preparation.

Beginning Monday, January 19, our regular hours are:

Monday – Friday: 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM
Saturday: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Call (618) 942-6649 or email [email protected]

Evenings and Sundays are available by appointment only, and we’ll be open all holidays through the April 15th filing deadline.

On a personal note, I’m deeply grateful to share that my heart health is fully recovered. I’ll be working longer hours this year and look forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones. If you reached out last year and we couldn’t take new clients at that time, please contact us—we’re accepting new clients again for the 2025 season.

Looking forward to seeing you soon,

Brian

Hi folks,
Just wanted to do a quick check-in. My office has been closed since August 18, so I wanted to do a status update:
1) My open heart surgery on Aug 21 was a success. I am feeling great and healing up nicely at home. The doctor says it takes a few weeks for my sternum to heal before I can resume normal activities. We are meeting with my surgeon tomorrow morning, and hopefully he will release me to return to work.

2) We anticipate returning to the office this Wednesday if everything goes according to plan. I have approximately 30 clients who requested extensions for their 2024 tax returns., who have not come in yet. The extension is good until October 15. If you are one of them, I will be able to complete your taxes, but please call us and schedule a sit-down appointment at your earliest convenience. Please do not wait until close to October 15, as I need to make sure I have enough time to get everyone finished.

As you would expect, my energy level is low and I get pooped out easily. I am hoping that my doctor gives me the green light to undergo cardiac rehab at Herrin Hospital soon. Because of that, we will continue to be open BY APPOINTMENT ONLY, as I don't have the energy to wait around the office all day to see if anyone comes by. So if you need to meet with me, feel free to call my cell at 618-923-3104. We can schedule a time to meet, and I can do your taxes while you wait. Please do not randomly stop by, in hopes of catching me, most likely I will not be there if I am not expecting someone.

This last Spring, because of my ongoing heart disease, I had to make the decision not to take on any new clients for the 2024 tax season, in order to conserve my energy. I know there are many new people that we had to turn away, even though we wanted to do business with them. This next year, however, I am hoping to be back bigger, better and stronger than before. As of right now, we are planning on taking on new clients, as well as welcoming back our 900+ existing client base.

Tina, Donna, Angie and I would like to thank everyone for your patience during this difficult chapter, and we promise that we are not going anywhere. We hope to keep serving our clients for many years to come!
