$40 trillion!

That's where our national debt now stands...roughly $120,000 for every man, woman and child in the country.

That number concerns me. It frustrates me. And I think it's worth paying attention to.

But here's the thing I've tried to remind clients (and myself) over the years:

**Pay attention to the things that matter. Don't let the noise distract you from the things you can actually control.**

I don't control Washington's balance sheet.

I do control mine.

A few thoughts on what this latest headline might remind all of us to do with our own financial house.

☀️ Summer seems like a good time for "The Vacation Test"

When you head out of town this year, ask yourself one question:

I've shared the full From Success to Significance article series in the comments if you'd like to explore more conversations like this.

Have a great summer!

Quick thought for business owners:

Sometimes the business grows… but freedom disappears.

A lot of owners quietly build businesses that depend too heavily on them — and don’t fully realize it until they try stepping away.

One simple question:
If you disappeared for 30 days… what part of the business would run just fine — and what part would start to crack?

I wrote more about that idea here:
