Anyone checking the status of their OHIO STATE and OHIO SCHOOL refunds yesterday and today . . . . The State of Ohio has suspended processing of returns due to a problem on their end. This is a state wide problem. Once it is resolved, I will be able to resubmit the returns and the Ohio Website will resume status updates.

FYI: In person appointments are nearly booked for the rest of the year. . . . If you really need and want a face to face appointment, I can't stress enough, call EARLY next week.

If a face to face appointment is not necessary, I ASSURE YOU, the exact same amount of attention to detail and GREAT importance is put on making sure you benefit from all deductions and credits out there! I will call, email, text at ALL hours of the day and night to make sure I don't miss ANYTHING. Quickness is important, but not nearly important as ACCURACY.

If your question is not answered at the front desk, email me! [email protected] When I am in an appointment or with a client, I am unavailable to speak on the phone, but unlike a lot of accountants (and attorneys :) I RETURN YOUR CALL!

Tax season is off to a great start. TOGETHER we will get through it. And remember, it doesn't stop APRIL 15th - you have me all year long! Get a letter, have a situation arise, need to know which way to turn - EMAIL/CALL the office and I will make sure you are taken care of!

Additional Comment: Drop Off's are taking between 24-48 hour turn-around as long as the documents are complete.

PERFECT EXAMPLE OF WHY WE NEED YOUR PAY STUB! Large Hicksville Company/Employer provides in box 14 a calculation of: "$3865.43 for overtime". . . . . . CORRECT AMOUNT for that box would have been $16918.72 which is the full amount of worked overtime at 1.5,

Accountant is supposed to do the calculation, not the employer. EMPLOYEE should be claiming for their exempt overtime on their tax return: $5639.57. Had they used their W2, it would have only been $3865.43 UGH!

NEXT YEAR I sure hope the Companies/Employers get edumi-cated (play on the word educated) and learn how to do it correctly! Good thing we are diligent and persistent and require paystubs or this person would have shorted themselves a significant amount of refund!"

When you are a self-employed person, also known as a subcontractor. Another words, you do not receive a W-2 from a company that you are working for, when it comes to tax time, you have to report all of the income you receive regardless of whether you think you're going to get a 1099 or not.

A lot of people are under the assumption that if you are paid cash, then you can choose to not include that income on your tax return. That couldn't be farther from the truth. It doesn't matter what method of payment you receive for doing a service whether it's Venmo, check debit credit, cash app or even straight up cash. It all must be reported to the internal revenue service.

I'm not sure why so many late 1099's are going out right now because the deadline is passed and they should've had them out to their subcontractors prior to now, but it really shouldn't matter because the subcontractor should be reporting every dime and Penny that they receive doing all of the jobs that they do all year long.
