Public Notice - Application to NC Wildlife Resources Commission

Public notice is hereby given that the Holden Beach Board of Commissioners will receive public input on the Town’s consideration of submitting an application to the NC Wildlife Resources Commission to request a no wake zone in the Intracoastal Waterway from Blockade Runner Drive to Roger Street. Comments can be made under the Public Comments on Agenda Items portion of the Board of Commissioners’ meeting scheduled for Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. in the Town Hall Public Assembly. Stage 3 Water Shortage Warning MANDATORY Restrictions

As of July 10, 2026, Brunswick County has moved to a Stage 3 Water Shortage Warning MANDATORY Restrictions until further notice due to worsening drought conditions. Under Stage 3, all automated outdoor irrigation is prohibited. Full details about all the restrictions are outlined at BrunswickCountyNC.gov/WaterWise.

Nearly a third of Brunswick County is now under an Exceptional Drought (D4), which is the highest tier of drought possible. Under the Stage 3 alert level, water customers are required to adjust their water usage habits by following the MANDATORY water usage adjustments.

Holden Beach is monitoring water usage for all water customers and will be issuing penalties for violations.

Block Q Improvements
The Town of Holden Beach is in the initial stages of planning for development of a master plan of the Block Q area. As part of this effort, the Town will host a series of small focus group sessions to gather detailed input from stakeholders on key topics related to the future design and improvements of the Block Q project area.

Participation Opportunity
The Town is offering stakeholders the opportunity to participate in small focus group discussions. Each group will meet one time. Participants may attend the prescheduled focus group meeting in-person at Town Hall or join the meeting via Microsoft Teams. The following is a list of the three (3) open focus group sessions, along with the specific areas of interest and the meeting schedule.

Focus Group Topics
Focus Group A – Family / Youth July 29th – 5:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Focus Group B – Boating / Outdoor Enthusiasts July 29th – 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Focus Group C – Business / Commercial Interests July 30th – 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.

Participation Guidelines
· A limit of eight (8) participants per focus group
· One participant per household
· Participants may register for only one focus group

If you are interested in participating, please submit your name, contact information, and the specific focus group of interest to the following email address ([email protected]). The Town will accept the first eight (8) qualifying respondents for each group. Before submitting, please review the meeting schedule to ensure your availability for the focus group you select.

Additional Opportunities for Community Input
A community engagement drop-in session will be held at Town Hall on Friday, July 31st from 2-7 p.m. There will also be a questionnaire available through a Town website link.
