Interrupting your regularly scheduled programming…

We’ve been talking a lot about back-to-school expenses lately, but there’s another August reminder worth putting on the calendar: Make-a-Will Month.

Last month we launched our Estate Planning episode featuring Bri Holcombe, estate planning attorney to talk about wills, the process and some other questions families should be considering.

While it may not be the most exciting item on your to-do list, having a plan in place can help make things easier for the people you love, especially when it comes to making your wishes known and protecting what you’ve worked hard to build.

And just like that… it’s back to school!

The first day always feels a little bittersweet; excitement for what’s ahead, a few nerves, and a reminder of just how quickly these years go by.

As a mom, I know there’s a lot that comes with a new school year, including the many education expenses that come along the way. It’s also a good reminder that planning for future education costs doesn’t have to mean having it all figured out today.

Sometimes, starting small and staying consistent is the best place to begin.

Wishing all the kids (and parents!) a wonderful school year!

Looking for a meaningful gift idea?

As we continue the conversation around educational expenses, we love hearing how some families choose to contribute toward a child's future education in place of a toy or physical gift.

Watch today's clip to learn how friends and family may be able to help. Missed this episode? Catch the full version in the link in the comments below.

Quick Estate Planning Tip

You've taken the time to create your will...but does anyone know where to find it?

One of the simplest ways to help your loved ones is to make sure your important documents are stored in a safe place, and that the right people know where that place is.

Consider these simple best practices:

✔ Store your original will in a secure, accessible location.
✔ Let your executor or trusted family members know where it is.
✔ Share the contact information for your estate planning attorney, if applicable.

Check out this quick recommendation from our recent episode with Estate Planning Attorney, Bri Holcombe, for storing your will. Watch the full episode here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYcROy91I0o

Have you reviewed where your important documents are stored recently?
