‼️ ATTENTION ‼️
As back taxes require careful, accurate processing to ensure maximum returns and compliance, especially with the IRS's stricter, updated matching systems in 2026.
For processing taxes from 2021 through 2025, here is what is needed:
1. Required Documentation (Per Year)
W-2s: For every employer.
1099s: For independent contracting, interest, dividends, or self-employment (1099-NEC, 1099-MISC).
1095-A: If you had insurance through the Marketplace (needed to reconcile credit).
Property Tax/Mortgage Interest: If you itemize deductions.
Last Pay Stubs: To estimate if documents are missing (though not ideal).
2. Process for Older Returns
Paper Filing: Returns from 2021-2023 may need to be mailed, which takes longer to process compared to electronic filing, with potential 6-8 week delays or longer.
IRS Account Review: We will check your IRS Transcript to ensure no 1099s or W-2s are missing, as this causes significant delays.
3. Important 2026 Deadlines & Rules
Refund Policy: As of late 2025, the IRS will no longer send paper checks; direct deposit is required to receive refunds.
Accuracy: Returns must precisely match the wages reported in the IRS system to avoid 570 hold codes.
To get started, please tell me:
Which of the years (2021-2025) are missing?
Do you have all your W-2s/1099s?
Are you looking to e-file or mail paper returns?
Once I know this, we can start securing what you deserve.
