🚨 If you haven’t filed your 2022 tax return, you need to do it ASAP if you believe you may be due a refund.

The IRS must receive your 2022 return by April 15, 2026 for you to claim any refund you may be entitled to.

After April 15, 2026, any refund associated with 2022 is permanently lost.

This deadline is called the Refund Statute Expiration Date (RSED).
In most cases, the IRS only allows 3 years from the original due date of the return for taxpayers to claim a refund.

🚨🚨🚨 News you can use‼️✨Government Shutdown Update (Taxes)

The U.S. entered a partial government shutdown on January 31, 2026 due to Congress not passing full federal funding.

Here’s what you need to know:

✅ Tax prep and e-filing are still operating normally
✅ Refunds are still being processed and issued (for now)

🚨If the shutdown continues, some IRS services may slow down:
• Longer wait times for customer service
• Delays with paper returns and mailed notices
• Slower responses to audits or disputes

✨Tax deadlines have NOT changed (April 15 still applies).

‼️Bottom line: File as usual, expect refunds to continue, but be patient with IRS delays.

‼️News you can use‼️

Good news. Some tax returns were accepted by the IRS today. If your return was accepted, it has now been sent to the IRS for processing.

Once the IRS accepts a return, it can take up to 21 days for them to finish processing it. If your return includes credits like EITC or ACTC, refunds are usually not released until later in February.

At this point, we no longer have control over the return. The IRS is responsible for all updates from here.

To check your refund status, please use the IRS tool called Where’s My Refund. This is the same system used by tax offices after filing.

If you do not see updates right away, that is normal. Processing takes time.
