As we head into the final months of the year, now can be a good time to check in on your finances before the holiday season and year-end rush begin.

A few things to consider:

Retirement: If you're thinking about retiring in the coming year, start considering your potential income needs, Social Security, healthcare, taxes, and how you'll transition from saving to taking distributions.

Holiday Spending: Gifts, travel, entertaining, and other holiday expenses can add up quickly. Setting a budget ahead of time can help you enjoy the season while keeping your broader financial goals in mind.

Retirement Contributions: Review your contributions and consider whether you're on track with the goals you've set for the year.

Year-End Tax Planning: Depending on your circumstances, there may be tax-related items worth discussing with your financial advisor and tax professional before December 31.

Estate Planning: Review your beneficiaries and consider whether any major life changes mean it's time to revisit your estate planning documents.

Looking Ahead: Think about your financial priorities for the coming year. Are you planning to retire, make a major purchase, travel, help family, or work toward another goal?

At Saxon Financial Group, we assist clients with financial planning and retirement planning to help them better understand how the different pieces of their financial lives work together.

If any of these items are on your year-end checklist—or you're simply ready to take a closer look at your financial plan—we invite you to schedule a consultation with our team. We’d be happy to learn more about your goals and discuss how we may be able to assist.

Wills vs. Trusts: Do You Know the Difference?

August is Make-A-Will Month, making it a great time to think about an important piece of your overall financial plan: your estate plan.

While wills and trusts can both help outline how you want your assets handled, they serve different purposes.

📄 A will can specify how certain assets should be distributed after your death, name beneficiaries, designate guardians for minor children, and appoint an executor. Wills generally go through probate.

🏡 A trust is a legal arrangement that holds assets for beneficiaries and is managed by a trustee. Depending on the type of trust and how it is structured, it may help with managing assets during your lifetime, planning for incapacity, providing privacy, and transferring certain assets outside of probate.

For many families, the conversation isn’t necessarily about choosing a will OR a trust. It’s about understanding how different estate planning tools may work together as part of a broader plan.

From a financial planning perspective, estate planning is connected to so much more than legal documents. Your investment accounts, retirement assets, beneficiary designations, real estate, insurance, family circumstances, and long-term financial goals can all play a role in how your assets are ultimately managed and transferred.

At Saxon Financial Group, we believe estate planning should be considered alongside the rest of your financial picture. Understanding what you own, how your accounts are titled, who your beneficiaries are, and what you want your legacy to look like can help you and your legal and tax professionals determine which strategies may be appropriate for your situation.

Make-A-Will Month is a good reminder to ask yourself: Is my estate plan current, and does it still reflect my financial picture and wishes?

August is Make-A-Will Month, making it a great time to think about an important part of your overall financial picture: your estate plan.

Estate planning is about more than simply having a will. It can help document your wishes, identify who should make financial or healthcare decisions if you’re unable to, outline how you would like your assets handled, and provide guidance for the people you care about.

An estate plan may include documents and considerations such as:

· A will or trust
· Financial and healthcare powers of attorney
· Advance healthcare directives
· Beneficiary designations
· Guardianship considerations for minor children
· Instructions for digital assets and other important information

At Saxon Financial Group, we believe that estate planning is an important part of the financial planning process. We work with individuals and families to help them understand their current estate plan, organize their financial picture, and think through important considerations for their family and legacy. We also provide access to estate planning resources and tools designed to make the process easier to understand.

Make-A-Will Month is a good reminder to ask yourself: Are my estate planning documents in place and up to date, and do the right people know my wishes?

📚 School is almost back in session!

Back-to-school season often comes with more than homework. It brings new expenses, changing routines, and fresh opportunities to build healthy financial habits.

· Review your monthly budget for school-related expenses.

Who you trust with your retirement assets may be one of the biggest decisions you ever make, and it deserves more than a surface-level impression. Our fiduciary guide walks through practical ways to evaluate an advisor using duty, compensation, credentials, process, and fit before you roll over a 401(k), pension, or brokerage account.

At Saxon Financial Group, we use that kind of framework within an independent registered investment advisory model, with a team that focuses on retirement income planning and connects your investments to real-life decisions around taxes, healthcare, Social Security timing, pension elections, employer benefits, and estate documents.

Instead of a product-first conversation, our approach emphasizes a team-based planning process, ongoing portfolio management, and coordinated advice for families and business owners, under a fiduciary obligation to place client interests ahead of our own.

If you are within 5–10 years of retirement, managing multiple accounts, or facing complex employer benefits or business decisions, we invite you to reach out to us here on LinkedIn or schedule a conversation to learn more about our process and whether our advisory model aligns with your retirement needs.

Halftime in 2026 has been anything but typical.

U.S. large- and small-cap equities posted strong double-digit gains, emerging markets rallied, and market breadth improved—suggesting leadership is starting to extend beyond the mega-cap technology names that have dominated recent years. At the same time, the AI buildout is shifting from a story of infrastructure and capex to one of monetization and productivity, even as a new Federal Reserve Chair begins to reevaluate how inflation is measured and communicated.

In our latest quarterly commentary, we explore:
· How AI-related spending, energy markets, and the U.S–Iran conflict have shaped growth, inflation, and market dynamics
· What Kevin Warsh’s five Federal Reserve task forces may mean for future policy and investor expectations
· Why expanding market breadth, evolving IPO activity, and sector leadership in areas like Energy, Healthcare, Financials, and Real Estate are important themes to watch

Summer Check-In: Is Your Financial Plan Still on Track?

We are halfway through the year, which makes this the perfect time to pause and take a fresh look at your financial plan. A lot can change in just six months—markets shift, expenses pop up, and life events can reshape your priorities.

Summer often brings travel, family activities, and added expenses, but it is also a great opportunity to get ahead. Whether you are planning vacations, preparing for back-to-school costs, or starting to think about holiday spending, a mid-year check-in can help you stay organized and confident.

Ask yourself:
· Have there been any unexpected expenses or income changes this year?
· Are your savings and investment goals still aligned with your current situation?
· Do you have upcoming large expenses like travel, tuition, or major purchases?
· Are you on track for retirement and long-term goals?

A strong financial plan is not something you set once and forget—it should evolve as your life does. Working with a financial advisor can help you adjust your strategy, identify opportunities, and stay on track no matter what the year brings.

As always, we are here to help. If you would like to review your current financial plan or start building one, reach out to us today so we can work together toward your goals.
