J And B Financial had the opportunity to be a vendor at this year's Juneteenth celebration @ Emancipation Park in 3rd Ward Texas.

This event featured food, music , art and community all geared toward celebrating Juneteenth, the federal holiday that recognizes the final proclamation and enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation which ended slavery in the United States.

Our small business believes very strongly in the importance of supporting the communities that we live in and do business in.

I had the opportunity to spend my lunch hour with The Houston Area Urban League during this year's Advancing Opportunity Luncheon held at the Hilton America's in Downtown Houston.

The theme of this year's luncheon was Mobility In Motion, focusing on investments in people, pathways, and progress to help our community prosper economically.

The resilience of Houstonians, our innovation in business, and our support for each other during national disasters were key points in the discussion that truly resonated with me.

Houstonians have historically faced a wide variety of challenges, including energy busts, hurricanes, industrial accidents, pandemics, and the growing pains of developing into a world-class city.

Yet, we maintain a sense of optimism when life throws curveballs.

We power through challenges.

We find ways to figure things out together.
