Financial Consulate

Financial Consulate We are a fee-only financial planning firm dedicated to acting in our clients' best interests at all times. What makes us different? See notes for disclaimer.

For over 40 years, Financial Consulate has served pre-retirees and retirees who've quietly built $1M+ in assets and want one simple thing: peace of mind that they're not making costly mistakes. Unlike most advisors who just coordinate with your CPA, we ARE your CPA. Nearly half our advisors are CPAs, backed by a dedicated tax team. We integrate tax planning into every financial decision—from pre-r

etirement Roth conversions to managing RMDs, QCDs, and IRMAA thresholds. We deliver a comprehensive Financial Physical—complete financial plan, tax audit, insurance review, and estate analysis—BEFORE asking you to become a client. You get tangible value immediately and can evaluate our work based on actual results, not promises. We grew organically through our radio show and client referrals because our advisors focus on teaching, not selling. As a fee-only fiduciary and NAPFA member, we're legally bound to put your interests first. Tune in to our radio show, Money, Riches & Wealth, every Wednesday from 6-7pm on WCBM AM 680, or visit our website to schedule a complimentary introductory meeting.

You've been putting money into your 401(k) for decades. But here's what gets overlooked: once you retire, that money needs to last 30+ years.

The withdrawal order matters. Pull from taxable accounts first, and you give your tax-deferred money more time to grow. Wait too long to tap your Roth, and you miss out on years of tax-free income.

This isn't something to figure out on the fly. We map out withdrawal sequences during the Financial Physical® so you know exactly where your income will come from each year.

Check that your assets are titled correctly, because the “small stuff” (house, cars, credit) can turn into a major headache for a surviving spouse at the worst possible time.

A quick check now can save a lot of stress later.

One of the biggest retirement expenses people underestimate? Healthcare.

A healthy 65-year-old couple retiring today could spend $300,000 or more on healthcare throughout retirement. That's not a worst-case scenario. That's average.

And if you need long-term care at some point, whether it's in-home help or a nursing facility, those costs can run $100,000 a year or more.

The mistake is assuming Medicare will handle it all and not building those costs into your retirement income plan.

We factor healthcare expenses into every retirement projection we build during our Financial Physical®. If you're not sure whether your plan accounts for this, let's talk.

Tax season is over, but tax planning never stops. If you're only looking at taxes once a year, you're missing opportunities.

By reviewing your 2025 return now, we can identify moves to make for the rest of 2026. That might mean converting IRA dollars while you're in a lower tax bracket, harvesting losses to offset gains, or restructuring how you take income.

Tax preparation looks backward. Tax planning looks forward.

What do you do when a client asks you to help them make one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives, and nobody, not even the doctors, can tell them the right time to act?
