Spoiler alert: Not unless your pet is working harder than you. 😆

BUT, there are some legit ways to write off pet expenses:
✅ Service Animals – If they’re medically necessary and prescribed by a doctor.
✅ Guard Dogs & Pest Control – If they protect your business, not your couch.
✅ Foster Pets – If you foster for a registered charity, some expenses may be deductible.

Tax Deduction or Just a Cute Expense?

Did you know your furry friend might qualify for a tax deduction? Before you start writing off those treat runs, here’s when the IRS actually allows pet expenses as a deduction:

✅ Medical Expense – If your pet is a service animal or an emotional support animal prescribed by a doctor, their care may be deductible.

✅ Business Expense – Got a guard dog protecting your business? Running a junkyard with working cats for pest control? If your pet serves a legit business purpose, you might have a deduction!

✅ Charitable Contribution – If you foster pets for a registered nonprofit, your out-of-pocket expenses (food, vet care, supplies) could be a write-off!

🚨 New Federal BOI rules for 2024! Most U.S. businesses will need to report their ‘beneficial owners’—those who own or control 25%+ of the company. This info helps fight fraud and money laundering. Avoid hefty fines by staying compliant!

The deadlines for filing the Federal Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) reports depend on when the business was created:

1. Existing Businesses (formed before January 1, 2024) have until January 1, 2025 to file their initial BOI report.
2. New Businesses (formed on or after January 1, 2024) must file their BOI report within 30 days of formation.

These deadlines are crucial to avoid penalties!

Listen it is never a good idea NOT to file a tax return on time, especially if you owe. Never in the history of mankind has avoiding your tax problems worked out for anyone ever!!

If you owe get on an installment agreement and let the IRS know you plan on paying them back. Avoiding them will not only add to your stress you will increase how much you owe with penalties and interest.
