There’s an interesting difference between changing your mind and losing your direction.

We change our minds all the time as we learn more, experience more and move through different seasons of life. What we wanted at 30 may not be what we want at 50.

What our family needed five years ago may not be what it needs today. That doesn’t necessarily mean we’re starting over. Sometimes we’re simply adjusting the route.

Knowing what matters to you gives you something to navigate by—even when the path changes.

I think sometimes we expect progress to look like a straight line. We decide where we want to go, make a plan and start moving toward it. Then life happens.

Something changes. A new responsibility appears. An opportunity comes along. Something that mattered before matters less—or something we never expected suddenly matters a lot more.

Changing direction doesn’t necessarily mean the original plan was wrong. Sometimes it just means we learned something along the way.

The question may not be, “Am I still following the original plan?”

It may be, “Am I still moving toward what matters to me?”

Market leadership has shifted in October, with investors rotating from technology and AI-focused stocks toward value-oriented and more defensive sectors amid concerns about rates, debt levels and growth expectations.

Mona Mahajan, Head of Investment Strategy, shares her perspective on what's driving the recent market rotation, why the broader fundamental backdrop remains constructive, and what it could mean for investors in the latest Weekly Market Wrap: https://bit.ly/47vGS59

We talk a lot about financial goals.

Retirement. Paying off the house. Helping the kids. Traveling. Leaving something behind.

But underneath those goals is something I think is even more interesting: Why does that matter to you?

Two people can have the exact same financial goal for completely different reasons.
And understanding the reason can make a difference when life forces us to choose between competing priorities.

Sometimes knowing what you want isn’t quite enough. It helps to know why you want it.
