BOI reporting is officially over for most U.S. companies.
FinCEN’s final rule permanently exempts domestic companies and U.S. persons from federal BOI reporting requirements. Certain foreign entities registered to do business in the U.S. may still need to report.
But that doesn’t mean ownership information is going away altogether, because businesses may still be asked to provide it for banking, tax and other purposes. For now, U.S. companies can cross federal BOI reporting off their compliance lists and update any outdated reminders or processes accordingly.
