🏡 This week's mortgage rate update is here!
Good news for anyone watching rates: things held steady this week. The 30-year fixed is at 6.53%, the 15-year at 5.87%, and VA loans actually dipped to 5.63%. A year ago the 30-year was 6.89%, so we're still better off than last spring.
Why did rates stay calm? Oil prices cooled off after news of progress on the U.S.–Iran front, and the latest inflation report didn't surprise anyone — which kept bond yields (the thing that really drives mortgage rates) in check.
Bottom line: rates are stable right now, and there's more inventory on the market, so buyers have a little more room to negotiate. If you've been waiting to buy or thinking about a refinance, this is a great time to run the numbers and get a plan in place.
