We are excited to recognize Tricia Martin as this year’s recipient of the Jane Cool Award! ✨

As the SVP of Customer Service, Tricia has a way of making even the most challenging situations look effortless. Whether she’s navigating a difficult conversation, handling an unexpected issue, juggling countless priorities, or simply helping someone work through a problem, she approaches it all with the same calm confidence and steady presence. Somehow, no matter what is happening around her, Tricia always seems to have the same message: “We’ve got this.”

What makes Tricia truly deserving of this award, though, goes far beyond her ability to keep her cool. She has an incredible ability to make the people around her feel supported, capable, and at ease. She leads with positivity and a genuine desire to help others succeed. She doesn’t just solve problems—she helps people feel like they can solve them, too.

One of our favorite votes for Tricia:

“I was working with a few teams in the company to help improve their team dynamic over the past year, and we talked about other teams throughout the company. I asked many partners, which team in the company is the benchmark? For knowledge, teamwork, support, flexibility, hard work, great leadership, and an overall vibe and aura that we can aspire to? It was nearly unanimous that it was Customer Service ❤️ from each partner I spoke with!

The leader and role model for the team was cited often for her experience, her ability to foster community and camaraderie, and for her ability to handle multiple personalities (ours and the customers), challenges, tasks, and changes—all with a seemingly endless well of patience, poise, and presence for the moment and the partner.

Time and time again, Tricia sets the example for others in how to take on a lot and remain calm, cool, and collected. She is a shining example of the Jane Cool Award!”

And perhaps one of the best things about Tricia is that her “cool” isn’t something she has to try to achieve. It’s simply who she is. She walks in with a smile, a hello, and that unmistakable confident, can-do attitude—and suddenly, everything feels a little more manageable.

Happy Friday! Tricia Martin was delighted 😁 to present this award this week and here is what she said delivering it -

“The Selflessness Award is one of my favorite awards because it’s written for my mother, Barbara Kucel’s, legacy and it recognizes something that can be easy to overlook.
It’s about the person who is willing to step in, help out, make things easier for someone else, and often do it without ever expecting anything in return. Our partners voted and selected a perfect recipient for this value in Monica Hannis!

Monica has this really wonderful ✨ combination of being incredibly capable while also having such a caring spirit. She is someone who sees what needs to be done and instead of waiting for someone to ask, she just does it.

She has become such an important part of our Sales and Marketing team, and she has been there to support Sarah, our customers, and our team through some very long and demanding days. She does not back down from hard work. She will roll and pack heavy furniture and hides into crates. She’ll show up at a tradeshow booth a be the first person with a drill, putting everything together. She organizes, she prepares, she notices the details and she makes things happen.

But what I love most is that her selflessness isn't just about the work. She thinks about people. She prepared protein bites for our customers and guests because she wanted them to have something homemade and healthy while they were visiting. She notices when someone needs a little extra support. She brings a calm presence when things get stressful.

And one of the simplest nominations we received said: Monica - Love her gentle, caring spirit. Sometimes the simplest words say the most. Because that really is Monica.

She has a way of making people feel cared 💛 for without making a big production out of it. She gives her time, her energy, and her talents because she wants to help and because she genuinely cares about the people around her.

That kind of selflessness has an impact far beyond the task itself. It makes teams stronger. It makes difficult days easier. And it makes people feel like they aren't doing everything alone.

Monica, thank you 🙏🏻 for being the person who steps in, who helps, who cares, and who quietly makes things better for everyone around you.

You are absolutely deserving of this award.

Congratulations to Jordan Siarkowski for earning our Learning award 🥇 this year!! Jordan was actually the very first person to ever receive our Learning Award, back in August of 2020. We think what makes this award so much more meaningful today is that Jordan has now come full circle and has earned this award again, but for a completely different side of what “Learning” represents.

When we created this award, we wanted it to recognize someone who is growing, learning, being mentored, or helping someone else learn and grow. And Jordan has managed to embody both sides of that definition.

She has always been someone who wants to learn. She asks questions, figures things out, and doesn’t shy away from something just because she doesn’t know how to do it yet. But what has really stood out over the years is how naturally she has become a teacher.

Several people specifically mentioned how thorough and patient she is when teaching. She doesn’t just show someone how to do something and walk away. She wants them to understand it. She wants them to feel confident. And she wants them to eventually be able to do it on their own.

One person said that Jordan understands the end goal is to give people the opportunity to learn so that, eventually, the work becomes more manageable for everyone. That is exactly what a great teacher does. She genuinely wants other people to succeed.

Jordan, you are someone who continues to grow, but you also make the people around you better. You share your knowledge. You have patience. You make people feel capable. And that is a pretty incredible gift. Thanks for continuing to teach our newer team members - and some of us vets - something new every week! All the while, learning new skills yourself- like surging quilted samples!

And congratulations on becoming the first-ever two-time Learning Award winner—and the first person to win it for both sides of what learning truly means.

Happy 10th anniversary to Sasha Blackwood! Sasha is a former Jane Cool 😎 and last year’s Strong 💪🏻 Woman 👩🏻 ambassador! She is a perfect blend of strength and poise and we loved to see her recognized for those awards! This year she earned votes for Caring, Stepped Up, Diligence, and Ownership, totally Sasha!

We told Sasha at dinner how infectious she is, always smiling and how much we LOVE having her at Stitch. Sasha is someone who smiles with her eyes 👀, ya know what we mean? You can also see her intensity in her eyes! We have always loved her passion ❤️ for craft and learning our products and how hard she works. From the Sample department days, to learning Finish Stock when it was in B2 still, to the magic 🪄 years she became an expert color 🎨 matcher, to where she is now starring in our Cutting department. She took her touch-up knowledge from Color Matching and applied to be become a touch-up artist 👩🏻‍🎨 on leather, a big deal in helping make our cut parts perfect for our customers.

Sasha has far exceeded our already HIGH expectations for how she would fit into Cutting. She has become Tommy’s go to on everything, helping him with source inspections, she can inspect hides, operate the machine, do tickets, pack and ship parts, fix and upgrade parts in production (almost like making CFA’s in former days), help problem solve, communicate in an out of the department, and oversee all the work in his absence. And like every role and department she has worked in, she brings her trademark motherly, nurturing, and mindful nature to everyone on the team. She is a connector and so valuable to the team and the ways in which Cutting has grown with our customers! We are so proud of and appreciative for all you do with and for our team!!! Congratulations 🎊 on your 10 year milestone, Happy Anniversary!!!!
