I recently had someone tell me that I should start a blog discussing relevant financial topics for young professionals. I was reminded yesterday of a valuable lesson:

I wanted to build a big desk for my office room @ home and so I decided very quickly what I would do.

I did not put much thought or really any planning into it and just went straight to cutting and building.

The end result was... well... pretty sad.

I was reminded that there are not many things that can be done well without having a solid plan in place from the start.

I was given a strong sense of conviction around the work that I do helping others build financial plans.

If we try to navigate our financial life as we go and try to “learn by doing” first and plan later, like I did with the desk, the end result is probably not going to be too great.
