Money can create options. But the real goal isn’t having more of it.

It’s having the freedom to decide how you spend your time, where you focus your energy, and what matters most to you.

That’s why wealth planning should be about more than simply accumulating assets. It should be about building a financial life that supports the life you actually want to live.

Money is a tool. Freedom is the outcome.

If you’re ready to build a wealth strategy around the life you’re working toward, let’s start the conversation.

Grow intentionally. Invest confidently.

Are your board relationships truly empowering those on the ground?

Drop a 🔥 if you've ever wondered whether your leadership actually helps the mission grow.

At Fuest & Klein, we believe not all relationships are equal—some uplift, and others just take up space. We ask:

Are your board members and staff truly empowered?

Is the work growing because of your team?

Are recipients of your mission seeing real impact?

If the answer is yes, keep doing what works. If not, it's time for honest change.

Sometimes, all it takes is a simple chat, a card, or an email to re-align and boost impact.

Because effective relationships should never just exist—they should evolve and elevate.

What’s one way you evaluate if your team’s relationships are making a real difference?

Are nonprofit boards unknowingly limiting their own growth?

I’ve seen organizations with $2M in cash stuck in checking accounts, earning nothing. It’s time to level up. 💸

Drop a 💥 if your nonprofit is ready to break free from complacency!

Most nonprofits don’t realize how accessible sophisticated investment options are — like short-term commercial paper or bonds — even for smaller organizations.

Your investment manager should be talking about expanding yields, not just maintaining the status quo. 🚀

If you’re sitting on cash that’s just sitting there, ask yourself: am I leveraging every opportunity to fuel the mission?

It’s all about education — and the right advisor can make all the difference.

Are you with an advisor who’s pushing your assets to work smarter?

Worth thinking about.

This week we talked about the document most nonprofits sign, file, and forget — the investment policy statement.

Where an organization sits in its own development. The fiduciary weight every voting board member carries. Why the policy needs to track economic reality, not just the minutes from the meeting where it was approved.

If your foundation’s reserves haven’t had a real review lately, that’s worth a conversation.

Updating an investment policy statement is real work — and it doesn’t always feel like it pays off for the advisor’s time. So it gets deferred, year after year.

That’s the wrong call. A current policy is what keeps a nonprofit’s reserve strategy defensible and the board’s fiduciary exposure in check.

Quick gut check: when was the last time your organization’s policy was actually reviewed, not just filed?

Markets shift. Funding sources shift. An organization’s own risk capacity shifts.

An investment policy statement that isn’t revisited stops reflecting that, which means a board could be governing off assumptions that no longer hold.

We break down why that connection to economic reality matters in our latest piece.

An investment policy statement isn’t paperwork. It’s the standard your board is actually held to.

Most boards don’t fully understand that — and it shows in how the document gets treated. Signed once. Filed. Rarely reopened.

New post this week on what that gap in understanding can cost a nonprofit.

How a nonprofit manages its reserves has less to do with the size of the fund and more to do with where the organization actually is in its own development.

That comes down to two things: how the board and leadership are structured at the top, and how well the people delivering the mission are operating on the ground.

Both have to be working together before reserve capital can be deployed with any real confidence.

Every nonprofit with meaningful reserves has an investment policy statement. Most haven’t opened it in the last two years.

That’s not neglect — it’s what happens when a document meant to be a living standard gets treated as a one-time formality instead.

We wrote about why that gap matters, and what it actually costs an organization that doesn’t close it.
