New eligibility for SNAP food benefits goes into effect Feb. 1

Data from the 2023 American Community Survey shows the majority of American families receiving SNAP benefits had at least one family member working in the past 12 months. Adverse Impacts on Grocery Stores:
* Significant Compliance Costs: Retailers must update Point-of-Sale (POS) systems and software to distinguish between permitted and restricted items, with costs estimated at $1.6 billion.
* Reduced Sales and Revenue: Cutoffs or reductions in benefits could lead to a substantial drop in sales, as SNAP accounts for a significant portion of revenue for many, particularly in lower-income areas.

Jeremiah 22:17 reveals God's deep concern for justice and His intolerance of exploitation and violence. It emphasizes that God sees not only outward actions but also the motives of the heart. Leaders and individuals are held accountable for how they treat others, especially the vulnerable.
