Official Tax Filing Information
📣 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS — PLEASE READ BEFORE FILING
We want our clients to file accurately, confidently, and without delays. Here are answers to some of our most common questions 👇🏽
✔️ Can I file my taxes before my W-2 arrives?
Yes — but only if your return can be completed accurately.
If your income is from 1099 forms (self-employed), Social Security, retirement, or other non-W-2 sources, and you have all required documents, you may be able to file earlier.
❌ What if I worked a W-2 job?
If you earned any W-2 wages, we must have your official W-2 before filing — whether it’s received by mail or accessed online.
📌 Important example:
If you are self-employed (1099) and also worked a W-2 job, you must still wait for your official W-2 before filing.
1099 income alone does not override the requirement to report all W-2 wages accurately.
Filing with estimates or paystubs can result in:
• Refund delays
• IRS notices
• Amended returns
📅 When are employers required to send W-2s?
Employers must furnish W-2s by January 31. Mailing by that date counts, and many employers also post W-2s earlier through online payroll portals.
💰 Who qualifies for a refund advance?
Refund advance loans require:
• A completed and e-filed tax return
• A qualifying refund amount
• Bank approval based on underwriting requirements
⚠️ What if I claim EITC or ACTC?
Under the PATH Act, the IRS cannot issue refunds that include EITC or ACTC before mid-February, even if the return is filed early.
Filing smart matters more than filing fast.
We’re here to guide you every step of the way.
