Your kids may be grown. Your responsibilities may still need protection. 👔

Today’s myth: “Life insurance is only for people with young children.”

The reality? Its purpose can extend beyond raising a family.

Depending on your goals, policy, and circumstances, life insurance may help protect a spouse, support business succession, provide liquidity, or transfer wealth to the next generation.

The question goes beyond “Are my kids still young?” Ask yourself: “Who or what am I responsible for protecting?”

💡 Smart money move: Start with the purpose. Then understand the policy’s cost, terms, and how it fits your overall plan.

Myth busted! 😎👔 Who or what matters most in your plan? Tell me in the comments. I’ll see you next Myth Busting Monday!

💪 Want to build wealth? Start with the financial habits you practice every day.

What’s going on, guys? It’s Dwain, and it’s Financial Fitness Friday! I got a good workout in, and today I want to encourage you to put that same effort into your financial future.

How do you start building wealth?
Work on reducing high-interest debt, spending intentionally, and consistently saving and investing to build assets over time.

As we move toward 2027, here’s what I want you to focus on:

✅ Reduce high-interest debt. Make a plan to pay down credit card balances.
✅ Be intentional with spending. Before buying something, ask yourself whether it supports your goals.
✅ Build assets. Make room in your budget for savings, retirement contributions, and investments that fit your goals and risk tolerance.
✅ Stay consistent. Financial fitness takes practice, just like physical fitness.

Before you charge another outfit or trip, think about what those interest payments are costing you and what that money could help you build instead.

At Phelps Financial Group, we help people connect today’s financial decisions with their long-term financial planning and retirement goals.

What’s one money habit you’re ready to strengthen before 2027? Let me know below. 👇

Let’s get it in! I’ll see you next week.

Your holiday checklist is growing. Is your retirement strategy on it? 📋

Before the year wraps up, take time to ask:

✅ Am I making the most of my available employer match?
✅ How do my retirement contributions align with my goals?
✅ Are there tax-saving opportunities I should discuss with my financial and tax professionals?
✅ Does my strategy still reflect changes in my income, family, or retirement timeline?

A year-end review can help you see what needs attention before you turn the calendar.

At Phelps Financial Group, we help you understand your options and connect your next steps to your long-term goals.

Put your financial future on the calendar. Send us a message to schedule a retirement strategy review.

You’re asking God for more. But what are you doing with what He’s already given you? 👀

In this week’s Wealth in the Word Wednesday, I’m sharing a powerful reminder from Matthew 25:21: Be faithful with what’s already in your hands.

Your income. Your time. Your talents. Your opportunities.

In the parable of the talents, two servants put their resources to work. One let fear keep him from doing anything.

So here’s the action I want you to take: Identify the resources you have and opportunities to invest them wisely.

Could you invest in your knowledge? Develop a skill? Explore financial options with qualified guidance?

Listen, you don’t have to have everything figured out to begin learning and planning. But don’t let fear keep you standing still.

Let’s get moving. Let’s be intentional. Let’s be good stewards of what God has entrusted to us.

▶️ Watch the episode, then tell me: What’s one resource you can put to better use this week?

One verse. One principle. One action.
That’s Wealth in the Word Wednesday. I’ll see you next week!

Your financial future is shaped by what you do consistently. 💡

Wealth isn’t built overnight. It’s built through small, consistent, intentional steps.

Setting something aside. Reviewing your financial plan. Asking questions. Following through.

Those steps may feel small today, but they deserve a clear purpose and direction.

At Phelps Financial Group, we help you connect your everyday financial decisions to your long-term goals, with guidance built around your needs.

What’s one step you can commit to this week?

Ready to give your next step a clearer direction? Send us a message to start the conversation.

Your paycheck may stop. Your tax bill won’t necessarily shrink. 👔

Today’s myth: “I’ll be in a lower tax bracket when I retire.”

The reality? That’s a possibility, not a guarantee.

Social Security, a pension, investment income, and retirement account withdrawals can all shape your retirement tax picture. Required minimum distributions and the tax treatment of Social Security may affect what you owe. Your income may also affect your Medicare premiums.

💡 Smart money move: Look at how your retirement income sources work together and how much you’ll keep after taxes. Don’t build your plan around the assumption that your tax bracket will automatically drop.

Myth busted! 😎 What retirement tax question would you like me to tackle next? Drop it in the comments, and I’ll see you next Myth Busting Monday!

💳 Financial Fitness Friday: Tackle Credit Card Debt with the Avalanche Method

Paying down credit card debt can feel overwhelming, but having a clear strategy can make the process more manageable.

One approach is the avalanche method:

Start by listing your credit cards from the highest interest rate to the lowest. Continue making the minimum payment on every card, then direct any extra money toward the card with the highest rate.

Once that balance is paid off, take the amount you were putting toward it and apply it to the card with the next-highest interest rate. Continue the process until the debt is paid down.

Why use this approach? Because focusing on your highest-interest debt first may help reduce the total amount of interest you pay over time.

The most important part is consistency. Even a modest extra payment can make a difference when it becomes part of a disciplined monthly plan.

And remember: your debt-payoff strategy should still leave room for essential expenses and unexpected emergencies. Financial progress should be sustainable, not create additional financial strain.

Looking for more structure and discipline in your overall financial life? Phelps Financial Group can help you take a more intentional approach to your financial future.

You shouldn’t have to be a financial expert to feel heard by one.

Terry M. met Dwain Phelps through his wife, who was already a client. What stood out to him? The attention Dwain gave to his individual needs, the time spent explaining his finances, and the support of an understanding, helpful team.

As Terry shared:

💬 “He helped me to understand what I’m doing and where I’m going.”

That’s meaningful feedback. Financial conversations should leave you feeling comfortable asking questions and better informed about your next steps.

Thank you, Terry, for trusting Phelps Financial Group and sharing your experience!

You can afford the payment. But have you counted the full cost? 💭

Before you sign for that car, take out a loan, or finance a purchase, I want you to pause and ask: Can I follow through on this commitment without putting my financial priorities at risk?

This Wealth in the Word Wednesday, we’re looking at Luke 14:28. Jesus uses the example of someone planning to build a tower and first sitting down to calculate whether they have enough to finish.

The passage is about the cost of discipleship, but the analogy also offers practical financial wisdom: Count the cost before you commit.

A monthly payment is only part of the picture. Consider the interest, fees, insurance, maintenance, and what that commitment will leave available for your everyday needs and future goals.

Here’s your action this week: Before your next financed purchase, sit down and write out the total cost. Look at how it fits your budget over the full term, not just the first month.

If the numbers would strain your finances, give yourself permission to wait or choose a more affordable option.

Getting started is one thing. Being able to finish matters, too.

One verse. One principle. One action. 🙏🏽

Save this reminder for your next big financial decision.

Market swings keeping you up at night? Let’s put your plan back in focus.

When markets feel uncertain, it’s natural to wonder, “Should I make a change?”

Before you act, take a breath and revisit your strategy. Market volatility is part of investing, but your decisions should reflect your goals, time horizon, and comfort with risk, rather than the latest headline.

A portfolio review can help you answer:
✔️ Are my investments appropriately diversified?
✔️ Does my strategy still fit my retirement timeline?
✔️ Am I taking more risk than I’m comfortable with?

Diversification doesn’t prevent losses, but it can help manage risk. And having a clear plan can give you a framework for deciding when to make adjustments and when to stay focused.

You don’t have to navigate uncertainty alone. Let’s review your portfolio and talk through what makes sense for your next chapter. 🤝🏽
