FinCEN Eliminates Beneficial Ownership Reporting for U.S. Small Businesses
The Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) has finalized a rule that permanently ends beneficial ownership reporting requirements for U.S. companies and individuals under the Corporate Transparency Act — effective immediately upon Federal Register publication.
FinCEN also announced it will purge previously submitted beneficial ownership data from U.S. persons, now that they’re exempt from the requirement.
Foreign entities registered as reporting companies, however, will still need to disclose beneficial ownership information for their foreign individual owners.
