What an interesting read from both the perspective of the wife who wrote into this column and the response back to the wife. We see both sides.

We have found most folks enjoy speaking to those of their similar generation. While Joyce, Jessica and Rob are all capable of assisting clients in any stage of life, there is something to be said for being relatable in age. With Jessica coming on board we have noticed the kids and grandkids of clients would rather work with her than Joyce or Rob.

The response back to this article focuses on the knowledge and ability of this advisor to help this couple and hits hard on this advisor's ethics. In this industry, the knowledge and changes are ever growing. We are constantly learning. We have also found that ethics can't be taught, you either have them or you don't. Finding an advisor that does not compromise their ethics is easier said than done. Unfortunately, most of the clients of those advisors don't realize they are being taken advantage of until much later. You don't necessarily find this in the first meeting.

Most people tend to respond like the wife, there is no second appointment because first impressions sitck. How would you feel walking into your first appointment with Jessica and she called you "you guyses"? How confident does that make you feel in her ability to address your concerns on a topic that may already make you feel nervous? Chances are we would be feeling like the wife, nervous about the next step.

Let us know what you think, as the wife are you having a second appointment or are you finding a new advisor?

“I’m wondering whether I should ask to work with someone closer to our generation.”

We want to thank everyone who braved the weather to join us for our client picnic at Gilbert Run yesterday.

Thanks to County Manners for providing a wonderful lunch of pulled pork, steak and shrimp kabobs! Mrs. Moo's Corner ice cream truck was a treat for everyone.

After the rain cleared the sun peaked between the clouds, the horseshoes and co****le bags started flying!

This is why people need to look at the trend of economic reports and not jump up and down over a single report for a single month.

So many people went all gaga over last month's better than expected employment report.

Well, to put it bluntly, this morning's report was awful. After the revisions to the previous month's are added in, the June employment reports shows a net LOSS of 17,000 jobs. Here are the relevant portions of the report:

"Total nonfarm payroll employment changed little in June (+57,000), roughly in line with the average monthly change over the prior 12 months (+36,000)."

"The change in total nonfarm payroll employment for April was revised down by 31,000, from +179,000 to +148,000, and the change for May was revised down by 43,000, from +172,000 to
+129,000. With these revisions, employment in April and May combined is 74,000 lower than previously reported."
