This one surprises people every year.

Your withholdings depend on MORE than just the number on your W4.

Multiple jobs, side income, self-employment, retirement withdraws , even changes in tax laws can all affect what you owe.

Taxes aren't always as simple as "claim 0= refund"

If your refund or balance due shocked you this year, it may be time for a withholding review!

Do I REALLY need to keep receipts??

Short answer: YES‼️But not necessarily every grocery receipt in a shoebox under your bed.

The IRS can ask for proof of deductions, business expenses, charitable donations, mileage, and more.

Good record keeping can save you HUGE headaches later.

📥 You've got mail from Protection Plus! 📥

This time of year, after tax season, the IRS will begin to send out notices and letters. But don't fear, you don't have to handle it alone!

⬇️ Common notices sent that can't be ignored. ⬇️

CP14, CP 501, CP 503, CP504
-CP14 is the first notice showing tax due and demanding payment.

CP 501 & CP 503
- final balances due notice and indicated the account is moving deeper into collection.

CP2000
-issued when information does not match the reporting party such as employed or bank information.

CP11 & CP12
-CP11 is a math error and an adjustment results in additional tax due.

-CP12 is issues when the IRS corrected one or more errors on the return, and changes the taxpayers refund amount.

HIGHLY recommended to open EVERY letter from the IRS immediately. Waiting only makes matters worse.
