Landlords kill deals more often than people realize.

Most buyers do not see it until they are already emotionally committed and financially exposed.

I was reviewing a deal where the buyer thought they were stepping into the same lease. Same space. Same terms. Maybe a few updates.

A week later, the landlord sent back a completely new lease.

We compared both versions side by side and asked one simple question. What changed?

There were over 25 changes.
Seven of them were serious enough to break the deal.

More liability.
Worse renewal terms.
New financial obligations that did not exist before.

Here is the reality.

The landlord is not trying to help your deal go through.
They are protecting themselves.

If you miss this, you are not just risking your deposit. You are buying a problem.

Most deals do not fail because of the business.
They fail because of details like this.

How closely are you reviewing lease terms before closing a deal?

Most business owners think culture is something you design.

The truth is, you bring it with you.

Your background, your values, the way you grew up, all of it shows up in your business whether you realize it or not.

For me, that comes from growing up on land, riding dirt bikes, being around horses, and living a more grounded lifestyle.

Even though I work in an office now, that part of me still shows up in how I build my team and how we operate.

I hire people I get along with.
People who share similar values.
People who fit the culture.

That creates real camaraderie.

At the end of the day, culture is not just a buzzword.
It is who you are, multiplied across your team.

How much of your personality shows up in your business?

One of the biggest complaints in our industry is lack of communication and being reactive.

Many firms wait until something goes wrong before stepping in.

We take a different approach.

From the first conversation, we focus on providing value, whether someone hires us or not.

We identify opportunities, follow up, and help clients actually take action on what we discuss.

Because real results do not come from information alone. They come from implementation.

At the end of the day, we see our clients as partners.

When they succeed, we succeed.
When they face challenges, we are there to help.

That is how business relationships should work.

I interviewed someone who didn’t quite have the skills I was looking for.

But something stood out.

I still hired someone else for that role.

Then I went back and found a way to bring him onto the team anyway.

Because culture wins every time.

Skills can be developed.
But the kind of person you want to work with every day is harder to find.

At the end of the day, building a great team is about people first.

Do you prioritize skill or culture when hiring?

Culture wins every time.

I interviewed someone recently who didn’t quite have the exact skills I was looking for.

But there was something about him that stood out.

I ended up hiring someone else for the role…

But I still reached back out and found a way to bring him onto the team.

Because you can teach skills.

You can’t teach character, attitude, and how someone fits into your culture.

At the end of the day, building a strong team is about who you want to work with, not just what they can do on paper.

What do you value more when hiring — skill or culture?

Trying to avoid taxes might be holding your business back.

Most owners think the goal is to pay as little as possible.

But when you start having “tax problems,” it usually means you’re growing.

You’re making more.
You’re expanding.
You’re leveling up.

If you keep trying to shrink your income just to avoid taxes, you’re also shrinking your ability to scale.

At some point, you hit a ceiling.

That’s when you stop playing small and start growing into bigger strategies.

Trying to hide from the system doesn’t build a real business.

Growth does.

What’s your focus right now — minimizing taxes or building something bigger?

There’s nobody coming to save you.

That was something I learned early in life. I didn’t have the luxury of having life handed to me. From 13, I worked hard — bought my first car, paid for my own bills, and got through high school.

But I learned resilience. I learned that the only way out of difficult situations is the way through.

The same mindset applies in business. When people face struggles, some will say, “This isn’t for me.” But for those who’ve faced real challenges, this is nothing.

What’s the hardest lesson you’ve had to learn in life?

Why do people ask me why I’m not a professional musician?

I spent five years pursuing music, and it’s something I loved. But to be a top-tier professional, it takes 98% skill, and I was at 80%.

That doesn’t mean I stopped loving music. I still get to perform and share my art with my community.

Here’s what I realized: art doesn’t always have to be a career. What if we saw it as a way of life, something that adds value to our daily experiences without the pressure of making it a full-time job?

Do you think creativity should be a career, or can it be something you do just because you love it?

I’ve had many failures.
I’ve had so many bad ideas.

But here’s the thing I always did: I gave it my best.

I’ve had some great products and ideas that helped the business run better and provided opportunities for others. But if you ask me what I want people to remember, it’s simple:
That I truly cared and always gave my best.

That’s what matters most in the end.

What do you want people to remember about your journey and impact?

How can you expand your zone of responsibility?

The simplest answer: do what you say you’re going to do.

But the next level is improving the quality of your promises.

We start with personal goals like hitting the gym, saving money, or going to work. But what about the promises that affect your family, your community, or even your business?

Expanding your zone of responsibility means delivering on promises that go beyond just you, and continuously improving and increasing that responsibility over time.

How do you challenge yourself to take on more responsibility and make a bigger impact on others?
