Do You Make Estimated Tax Payments? September 15 Is Coming!

If you make quarterly estimated tax payments, mark your calendar! The third federal estimated tax payment for 2026 is due September 15.

Estimated payments may apply if you have income that isn't subject to enough withholding, including self-employment income, investment income, rental income, or other sources.

Missing or underpaying estimated payments can result in penalties, so now is a good time to make sure you're on track for the year.

Final Tax Filing Deadlines Are Coming Up!

If your 2025 tax return is currently on extension, these are the final filing deadlines to keep in mind:

🔹 September 15, 2026
Final extended deadline for Partnerships and S Corporations

🔹 October 15, 2026
Final extended deadline for Individuals and calendar-year C Corporations

🔹 November 16, 2026
Final extended deadline for many calendar-year Nonprofit and Tax-Exempt Organizations

If you haven't provided your tax documents to your tax professional yet, now is the time! Waiting until the filing deadline doesn't leave enough time to prepare and review your return, address questions, obtain signatures, and complete the filing process.

Don't let the final deadline sneak up on you — get your information in early!

Be sure to keep good records—it could save you time and money at tax time.

Beginning with tax year 2026, taxpayers who don't itemize may be able to deduct up to $1,000 in qualifying cash charitable contributions ($2,000 for married couples filing jointly).

To help ensure you're eligible for any deduction:

🔹 Keep receipts or bank records for cash donations.

🔹 Obtain written acknowledgments for donations of $250 or more.

🔹 Maintain records of non-cash donations, including their fair market value.

🔹 Verify that the organization is a qualified charity before making your donation.

The IRS provides additional guidance on what qualifies and the records you should keep throughout the year.

Stay Informed • Stay Protected

🚨 The IRS has released its annual "Dirty Dozen" list of the most common tax scams for 2026.

Scammers continue to become more sophisticated, using fake IRS emails, text messages, AI-generated phone calls, and misleading social media posts to steal personal and financial information.

One important reminder: The IRS contacts taxpayers by mail—it will not call, text, or email demanding immediate payment or personal information.

Take a few minutes to review this year's list and learn how to recognize the warning signs. Staying informed is one of the best ways to protect yourself and your family.
