Big news! After an extensive search to find the perfect person to provide new leadership and support to the practice, it is with great pleasure that we introduce Brandi Adams as the new owner of Trust Services.

Brandi is a seasoned professional and has an exceptional background in income tax preparation, finance and accounting. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Master's in Business Administration, and she is a CPA. She has owned and managed her own firm before acquiring ours so you can see that Brandi has a great deal of expertise in this field.

Pam and Cheryl will be remaining, and Brandi's staff will be providing added support. Our clients will receive the same excellent service and personal attention to which you have become accustomed. Additionally, we will remain at the current location through tax season. I will be available during the next year to assist Brandi in a smooth transition as needed.

For those clients who live out of town and normally mail their tax information to us, we want to assure you that our procedures will remain exactly the same.

Thank you for allowing us to be of service to you all these years. We know that you will be very happy with Brandi and wish you all the very best.

Sincerely,
Kris Hartland

“If you wait for perfect conditions, you will never get anything done.” - Ecclesiastes 11:4 (TLB)

In the aftermath of Irma, it's easy to become aware of the fact that we are not totally in control. This is particularly difficult for those of us with a tendency toward perfectionism. I am hoping that this week's blog post might alleviate some of your frustrations and free you to become more productive.

If you are a perfectionist or spend a lot of time around one, here's 10 steps to help break free from the chains of perfectionism and reclaim peace and productivity.

If you find that the work ethic in your business is not up to par, commend those who demonstrate excellence and consider sharing the checklist below with the rest of the team.

1. Show up on time.

2. Bring your entire self to work, not just your body, but your mind and soul as well. (We sometimes refer to this as being fully engaged, which is more than just being focused; your efforts are coming from a deep concern for those who will benefit.)

3. Put in an honest day's work, not counting personal texting, web surfing and non-work-related conversation time as work time.

4. If you are asked to do something that is morally reasonable and physically possible at work within your prescribed work week (and perhaps even if it will take a little extra time), do it.

5. If you agree to be responsible for something, get it done by the deadline.

6. Don't think about just what's asked of you, think about what needs to be done.

7. Consider how your actions are contributing to the well-being of those receiving your services and to the success of your business or organization.

8. Be an ambassador of goodwill for those you represent.

9. Work as unto the Lord.

We're not afraid to say this 4-letter word -- WORK. How do you and your employees match up to this checklist for diligence at work?

A CASE FOR THE CLOUD. I mean document management, not storm clouds.
RECORD RETENTION for the IRS in particular. You would think the IRS would give you a break if your house gets flooded and your records do too. But, I wouldn't count on it. In the case of the devastation of Harvey, it is likely you would get grace. But you could have records ruined without the area being declared a national disaster, what then?
This is why a "secure cloud" is a great answer. I'm not talking about any cloud here. Remember, you have a lot of personal info in those documents and we don't want to solve one problem and cause another. Check directly with the IRS below for retention requirements and call us if we can help.

Unless you are a professional bookkeeper, you probably don't like to spend valuable business time keeping records. But keeping good records can actually help you save money.
