Just a reminder as the tax year comes to end, fully research every article you read that claims "you can deduct this on your taxes!" I've read two articles just today that were very misleading and could cause a lot of stress at tax time. When in doubt, talk to your tax advisor.

If you got hit with the No-Health-Insurance penalty on your 2014 taxes, it doesn't get any better for 2015. The penalty increases for 2015. Something to think about if you are doing any end of year tax planning.

A tweet from an Indiana resident by the name of Benjamin Miller, including a picture of the IRS notice he received advising him that he owes $2,344 as a penalty for not having health insurance, has gone viral and ignited a firestorm.

Just a reminder to those that filed extensions on their businesses: the deadline is today!!! This includes both Corporations and Partnerships. Don't get dinged with the $100 a day penalty by not filing. 💰💰💰

Just a reminder for those that pay their 941 payroll taxes monthly, they are due one week from today (06/15)! Don't forget!

Upcoming tax due dates:

If you file Utah state sales tax or state payroll taxes on a monthly basis, don't forget they are due by May 31st.

For those that are paying estimated taxes, your next due date is June 15th. Don't forget to file that 1040-ES so that you don't owe a penalty come next April!

Although tax season is over, it's never too late to plan for next year. Take the summer to see what you want to accomplish for the rest of the year and where you want to take your business by the end of the year.
