To our local Bel Family:

The news this week was a shock to us all, and my team and I stand by and ready to help you all during this difficult time.

We will not be doing a free lunch during this time to try and sway you toward doing business with us, but we stand ready and able to offer no cost or obligation consults to you and your families during this difficult time, no matter what your situation or account size is.

For 39 years (25 years in finance), I have planted my business flag in this community proudly and have been present to all who need assistance, regardless of their ability to pay, and have always acted in my client’s bests interests, even when it cost me money to do so.

It’s called being a fiduciary, and that doesn’t stop now just because there’s lots of new money floating around that people need objective advice on.

All I ask is that you give my team a call, when you are ready to get that second opinion. 270-200-1056. Or, book online at this link.

There’s no longer any need to work remotely with your current or future financial advisors… we live, work, and worship in this community!

Come see what our team is about and give us a chance to bring your business back local!

Hello Facebook Friends,

My apologies for the last-minute post, but here it goes.

I have *5* tickets for Drum Corps Internatinal prelims for tomorrow (Thursday), along with a hotel room blocked for tonight/tomorrow night in Indianapolis, IN for anyone who is interested.

I'd prefer to give these to a current or former music educator, instructional staff member, DCI Fan Boy/Girl, or active marching band participant/fan, but am open at this point to whoever wants to take me up on the offer.

You would have no costs associated with this outside of your food and to/from travel expense -- I'll provide the tickets, and I even have a hotel room blocked for tonight and tomorrow night in downtown Indy for whoever might need/want to take me up on this offer.

I unfortunately had several more who wanted Friday or Saturday tickets than I had available, because I had people who normally come on Thursday move to those nights... even with buying more tickets this year. :/

Event info is below -- you are not required to be there for the whole show as I know it's a long day for most. If you get there by 7-8pm tomorrow night, you'll catch what is likely to be the finalist corps for the season, so even coming late you'll get a good show.

Feel free to share this post with whoever you think would be interested -- time is short and I'd prefer these tickets be used than not as they are already paid for. (And, if you're insistent upon giving me something for them, you can, but that will not be expected nor required to take advantage of this)

Respond to this post, if interested, or send me a direct message (or, call me if you have my number). I will keep an eye on Facebook today for replies.

Michelle Sandlin-Avery, Shanna Reed, Nicole McWilliams, Doug Meyer, Brian Dalrymple, Eric Wiener, Adam Cmejla, Chris Janota, Brent Burris, Ashley Bell, Amy Baggett Durst, James O. Gregory

Happy Friday! As a "Part Two" to my coin-collecting post last week, I wanted to share some of my personal collection. Some coins took me 20 years to find!

The 1795 is considered the first “widely available” silver dollar for the new nation, with an original mintage of 100,000 pieces (America only had 4,000,000 people in it at that time, so this was a good quantity back in those days). The 1799 dollar holds significance because our founding father, George Washington, died December 14th of 1799, just a year after these changes were made. The “Heraldic Eagle” has been used in many variations on US coinage, even to this day. The iconography represents “Peace through Strength” as oftentimes, the eagle is holding an olive branch in one set of talons and a set of arrows in the other, always looking toward the side that the olive branch sits on.

Coin collecting is one of my passions, but I'd love to know: Do you have anything you love to collect? Show me a photo of your collection in the comments!

Seems obvious, but I think all of us need this reminder from time to time.

How much money are you spending on food each month? According to the USDA, a moderate budget for a family of four is roughly $1,300 per month. Obviously, this can vary greatly depending on family size, diet, and lifestyle choices. With rising costs in grocery stores and restaurants, here are a few ways to keep some change in your pocket when you walk out of the grocery store.

• Plan meals in advance so you know exactly what you need while you’re shopping

• Fight the urge to get takeout multiple times a week and research easy, budget-friendly meals to cook at home

• Instead of grabbing the first container you see, compare prices and look for deals

• Control impulse buys and stick to your shopping list

Take steps towards adopting savvy shopping habits and save yourself some money at the end of the month!

It may feel far away, but it’s never too soon to prepare for tax season. Set aside a few minutes to organize your income documents, receipts, and expenses, as well as consider your tax-saving options, such as IRA contributions. Taking these steps now can save you future stress and ensure a seamless tax-prep experience in 2024.

Did you know that coin collecting has long been a hobby of mine? Since it's Friday, let me share a little history on American coins!

The US won its freedom from the British Empire in 1873 in the War of Independence. Before then, the “American Colonies,” as they were called, used British currency and a system of currency exchange – coins with names such as pennies (what we refer to as pennies in the US these days are called “cents” – check out one next time you have one in your hand!), farthings, half-farthings, shillings, or British Pounds, all of these which were divided into “bits,” of which 8 bits equaled 1 British Pound. It was a non-decimal system for the most part, and Britain continued with this system until their “Decimal Day” in 1971.

In the US post-war, the country was a wreck economically. Most industrial production of the time relied on tools from Great Britain, so whatever factories didn’t get destroyed during the war took a while to rebuild. Colonists turned to “continental currencies” of paper, backed by the individual states, to bridge them until Alexander Hamilton researched and publicly supported a US Mint in 1791. (To that date, even the “Continental dollar” circulated during the war was rumored to have been made in Britain and smuggled into the country by pro-America supporters back home.)

After George Washington urged Congress in his 3rd State of the Union Address to pass the “Coinage Act of 1792”, which quickly became law. Following the Constitution, this coinage was to be made of Gold and Silver (with some copper added for durability), preventing Congress or any political power from “overprinting” the people’s money.

However, the first silver or gold coins were not struck at this mint until 1794 – the first specimens being the “Flowing Hair Dollars” in late 1794… today of which only 150 are still known to exist, with mint-state examples going for millions of dollars!

Next week, I'll share some more photos from my personal collection, but I'm curious: do I have any fellow coin collectors on here?
