October monthly returns & Sep/Oct bimonthly returns are due today.

Holidays are on the horizon & inevitably for many that means discussing business with friends & family. Wondering if someone needs a license? If they’ve made any money and arent a W-2 employee, the answer is yes if they live in SD.

1) Any business with a physical presence in South Dakota is required to be licensed. Yes, ANY business, regardless of activity taxability.

2) Any business without a physical presence (located outside SD) making 200+ SD salss/yr and/or $100,000 sales/yr.

💸 Notice to business owners:

If you are currently receiving the collection allowance up to $70/mo for timely online filing/payment it will cease 7/1/25 equating to $0-$840 per business per annum.

⏳ Filing Reminder:

March monthly and Q1 quarterly returns are due this coming Monday, 4/21/25.

Vehicle registration renewals will be offline in mySDCars and at the DMV Now Kiosks beginning February 7, 2025, as we transition to the 605Drive system. 605Drive launches February 17, 2025. If you have a February vehicle registration renewal (C/D/E), please renew early to avoid any delays.
