Business Bestie, the most expensive bookkeeping mistakes are not always the big, obvious purchases. Sometimes, it’s the small transactions being recorded incorrectly month after month.

Here’s a QuickBooks Queen gem most people won’t tell you:

If a customer pays $10,000 through Stripe and only $9,650 reaches your bank, your income is still $10,000. The other $350 should be recorded as a processing-fee expense. Recording only the deposit understates your revenue, hides a possible deduction, distorts your profit margin, and could create problems when matching your 1099-K.

And choosing an S Corporation too early can cost more than it saves when the business cannot consistently support reasonable payroll, tax filings, and ongoing compliance.

Clean books do more than prepare you for taxes. They show you exactly where your money is going and what needs to change before you lose more of it.

Some people are not holding a grudge because of what you did to them. They are uncomfortable because you survived what they did to you, stopped giving them access, and kept building anyway.
