Had the pleasure of emceeing the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce Wake, Rattle & Roll event this morning.

I’ll admit it—a 7:00 a.m. start on a Friday requires a level of enthusiasm that I don’t always possess before coffee. 😉

But every time I attend this event, I end up kicking myself for missing the others.

It’s always filled with great conversations, awesome local business leaders, and hugs from people I don’t get to see nearly often enough.

We also learned more about the incredible impact the Cenovus Lima Refinery has on our community and local economy.

Thanks to the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce for having me back to emcee. Always a great morning and always worth the early alarm!

A little late posting this, but better late than never!

A couple weeks ago, I had the opportunity to speak with students at University of Northwestern Ohio about financial planning for business owners.

What made it even more special is that I’m also a UNOH alum, so getting to come back and pour into the next generation of students felt pretty full circle.

Let me just say… these students were impressive. Sharp, engaged, full of ideas, and already thinking like future entrepreneurs. One young woman is even planning to start a business in the high-performance automotive industry, and you already know I love seeing women break into traditionally male-dominated fields.

It was such a rewarding experience getting to share financial knowledge with the next generation of business leaders and innovators.

And a huge thank you to Nathan Vandenbroek for inviting me to speak. You’re doing an amazing job investing in these young men and women, and it definitely shows.

There’s just something special about local businesses. ❤️

Last week I was still dragging from bronchitis and a sinus infection, but life doesn’t stop, so off to a coffee meeting I went.

I stopped into Winans Chocolates + Coffees in the Central District and grabbed a yummy coffee drink and a bag of my favorite coffee to take home.

I still wasn’t feeling great, but it’s amazing how small acts of kindness can turn your whole mood around. From offering to grind my coffee beans for me, to the adorable little heart made with cream on my coffee… it just made my day a little brighter when I really needed it.

That’s the thing about local businesses.
They don’t just provide a product or service. They create connection, community, and moments that matter.

So thank you to the small businesses out there who go the extra mile, even in ways you may not realize. It truly makes a difference.

Support local whenever you can. ❤️

Well… it’s been a minute since I’ve posted. 😅

Life has a way of slowing us down sometimes. Between being sick and catching back up at work, there hasn’t been much extra time left lately.

Last week was my final Savvy Women event of the season, and while it was a smaller group, it ended up being exactly what I needed.

I’ll admit, the perfectionist in me started overthinking the lower attendance. I wondered if people were over the events, if they were still relevant, or if I was somehow missing the mark. I was tired, didn’t feel well, and honestly considered canceling.

But I reminded myself that even if only a handful of women showed up, they still deserved for me to show up too. And I’m so glad I did.

There’s something really special about small groups. The conversations get deeper, the walls come down, and there’s more space for connection and vulnerability. We lingered long after the presentation talking about life, challenges, growth, and all the things women carry. It was pretty amazing.

A huge thank you to Brenda Fox at Hart Hall Banquet Center for donating the venue space, and to Rodonna Jackson for the wonderful catering and support. I’m so grateful for women who pour into other women. ❤️

Do I still want these events to grow? Absolutely. But this night was such a good reminder of the “why” behind all of it.

I can’t wait to see what next season brings

I hate blanket statements.

One I’ve heard for years is that if someone is wealthy, they must have done something shady to get there… or that wealth itself is somehow bad.

But money is just a tool.

Like any tool, it can be used for good or bad depending on the person using it.

Without wealth, businesses wouldn’t grow, charities wouldn’t exist, and many families wouldn’t have opportunities they otherwise wouldn’t have.

The issue isn’t money. The issue is greed, dishonesty, and misuse… and those things exist at every income level.

There is no shame in building wealth.

What matters is what we do with it.

Last week was a big one for me.

I was honored to be named a finalist for the ATHENA Leadership Award at the Lima Allen County Chamber of Commerce annual awards gala.

While I didn’t take home the award, being recognized alongside so many incredible women leaders in our community — both past and present — is something I will never take lightly.

When I started this crazy journey of becoming a financial advisor, my goal was actually pretty simple: help women feel more confident, informed, and empowered with their money.

That was it.

So to be recognized by my community simply for doing work that I genuinely love means more than I can put into words.

I’m incredibly grateful for the women who trust me, support me, learn alongside me, and allow me to do this work every day.

Award or no award, this work matters.

And I’ll continue showing up and doing what I feel called to do.

Went to the coolest little bar this weekend, and now I’m convinced—small businesses just do it better.

The vibe. The creativity. The personality.
You can tell when something was built with intention instead of a corporate playbook.

But here’s what we don’t always see…

Behind every small business is someone taking a financial risk.
Someone figuring it out as they go.
Someone who probably loses sleep wondering if it’s all going to work.

It’s not easy. And it’s definitely not guaranteed.

Which is exactly why it matters where we spend our money.

Supporting small businesses isn’t just a “nice thing to do.”
It keeps our communities interesting, unique, and alive.

So yeah… I’ll take the cozy bar with character over the cookie-cutter experience any day.

I rarely listen to the radio.

It’s usually my music, a podcast… or honestly, silence over commercials 😅

Because the ads? They get me.

Today’s winner for “what did I just listen to?” goes to a life insurance ad featuring a guy named… Big Lou.

His pitch was basically:
If you’ve been divorced a few times and need life insurance for the new wife… Big Lou’s your guy.

Ummm… ok..

Its very clear the ladies are NOT Big Lous’s target market.

And why are we acting like you need a brand new policy every time life changes? If you already have coverage… it doesn’t just disappear.

Also… I can’t be the only one who hears that and thinks used car commercial, right? 😬

Listen, Big Lou might be a great guy.

But this is exactly why people get confused about financial stuff.

Life insurance isn’t a gimmick. It’s an important part of a solid financial plan—and it should actually make sense for your life, not just your current situation.

Talk to someone you trust who can walk you through it.

Because your financial decisions deserve better than a catchy ad.

Sometimes our stuff starts owning us… instead of the other way around.

I see it more than you’d think—holding onto things, even when they’re creating financial stress.

And I get it. It’s usually not about the “thing.”
It’s the memory, the meaning, the feeling attached to it.

I’ve done it too—saved years of meaningful cards that I haven’t looked at in forever.
Clutter? Yes. Financial problem? No.

But when the thing does impact your finances… that’s where it gets harder.

A few questions worth asking:
• Why am I holding onto this?
• What need is it meeting?
• Is there another way to meet that need?
• What matters most right now?

Not easy—but important.

Because the reality is that the memories aren’t in the thing. They’re in you.
And they feel a lot lighter without financial stress attached.

My oldest daughter is graduating 😭 so brace yourself for some sappy content over the next couple months…

Currently deep in grad party planning and WOW.. Pinterest will have you thinking you need a full-blown wedding.

Meanwhile, I’m over here with two personalities:
💸 “Be smart, be reasonable”
💖 “SPEND IT ALL, IT’S YOUR BABY”

We’ll land somewhere in the middle.

But the most important part is celebrating her with good food and the people who love her.

Reminder: you don’t have to go broke chasing “perfect.” It’s not what anyone remembers anyway. 💛
