This letter regarding new Beneficial Owners Information (BOI) reporting requirements was shared with clients. Please be aware of the updated requirements and upcoming dates concerning BOI reporting. It is your responsibility to comply with these changes. Contact your CPA for further questions or if you wish for us to assist you in fulfilling these requirements.

Fraud Alert Warning:
A client recently received a phone call from an individual posing as a representative of their accounting software provider. This individual knew enough specific details about the client that he/she was able to convince the client to allow them remote access to their company computer and their accounting software. The individual went on to charge the client an "updated fee" on the client's credit card. It was at this point that the client got suspicious and disconnected the remote call. Later the client found that this individual had also somehow changed bank account information in their accounting software related to employee payroll direct deposits.

The client later called the accounting software provider and was told that no one from their organization had called and that this sort of fraudulent activity was taking place more frequently.

The accounting software in question in very popular with small business owners and many of our clients use it in their businesses.

If you receive an unsolicited phone call from someone saying they are calling you from your accounting software provider, be very careful what information you provide to them. If you get one of these calls, advise the individual calling that you will have to call the organization's published phone number to verify the call is legitimate.
