How we made tax season a little less stressful this year!

Tax season wrapped up a little while ago, and we wanted to take a moment to talk about something behind the scenes that made a real difference this year: TaxDome, the client portal we rolled out to make working with us easier, clearer, and a lot less stressful.

If you were one of the clients who came on board, thank you — and we hope you noticed the change. If you weren't, here's what you may have missed.

What we set out to do

Before TaxDome (https://albacpa.taxdome.com/login) , staying in the loop on your return meant a phone call, a text, or a "just checking in" email — and honestly, sometimes we couldn't get back to you as quickly as we wanted to. We knew that not knowing where things stood was often more frustrating than the wait itself.

So we built something closer to the kind of order tracking you get from a delivery app: you can see exactly where things stand, in real time, without having to ask. We wanted the same thing for your tax return. Upload your documents, and watch it move from received, to in progress, to reviewed, to delivered — all in one place, without playing phone tag with our office.

How it went

We're proud of how this first full season went:

● Every document organized. No more digging through email threads or wondering if we got that W-2 you sent last month.
● Real-time status updates. You could log in any time and see exactly where your return stood — no guessing, no waiting on a callback.
● Clearer communication. Questions and answers stayed in one thread, tied to your return, so nothing got lost.

The feedback we heard back was some version of the same thing: just knowing someone was working on it — even without a call — made the whole process feel less like a black box. That was the goal.

What's next

We're not stopping here. Over the next few months, we're looking at ways to make the experience even smoother — clearer expected completion dates, better delivery of your finished return, and continuing to fine-tune the process based on what worked (and what didn't) this year.
