IR-2025-114, Nov. 21, 2025 — The Department of the Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service today issued guidance for workers eligible to claim the deduction for tips and for overtime compensation for tax year 2025.

Important IRS Changes. Starting September 30, 2025, the IRS will only accept digital payments and issue digital tax refunds.

Here's what you need to know:
• Refunds: Tax refunds will mainly be sent via direct deposit. Make sure your direct deposit info is included when you file your taxes.
• Payments: All tax payments, including estimates, extensions, and balances due, must be made electronically. You can use IRS Direct Pay, ID.me accounts, wire transfers, digital wallets, debit and credit cards, and more.

2025 mileage rates
The standard mileage rates for 2025 are:

Self-employed and business: 70 cents/mile
Charities: 14 cents/mile
Medical: 21 cents/mile
Moving (military only): 21 cents/mile
