The rules for the Low-Volume Hospital Payment Adjustment have changed under CMS’s FY 2026 Final Rule. This change ends the temporary provisions from the Affordable Care Act, which means many rural hospitals will see a reduction in Medicare inpatient payments for FY 2026.
