Big tax updates to know under the 2025 Tax Act 📊

Here are a few changes that could make a real difference for taxpayers from 2025–2028:

✨ Social Security Benefits

If you collect Social Security & your modified adjusted gross income is under $150,000 (married) or $75,000 (single), you may qualify for up to an additional $6,000 exclusion from benefit taxation.
Available through 2028.

⏱️ Overtime Pay

Up to $12,500 per person in overtime can be excluded from federal income tax.
Applies to 2025–2028 tax returns.
⚠️ Employer reporting may be inconsistent in 2025.
Beginning in 2026, overtime should appear as a separate category on Form W-2.

💰 Tipped Employees

You may exclude up to $25,000 in tips from income tax if:
Income is under $150,000 (single) or $300,000 (married).

📌 Important reminder:
Overtime & tip income still count toward Social Security & Medicare taxes—only federal income tax is excluded.
