The IRS has declared disaster relief for taxpayers affected by Hurricane Ida.

Louisiana taxpayers and businesses affected by Ida now have until January 3, 2022, to file certain returns and pay any tax due. This includes several returns and payments originally due between August 26, 2021, and January 3, 2022, such as:

* 1040 returns on extension and due October 15 (Note: individual balance due payments were due May 17 - long before this relief package—so they are not covered.)

* Quarterly estimated tax payments due on September 15

* Quarterly payroll and excise tax returns due on November 1
