ট্যাক্স সিজনে সবচেয়ে বেশি শোনা কথাগুলোর একটি...

"ভাই, ট্যাক্স দিতে হবে। তাই রিটার্ন আর ফাইল করিনি, আরও পরে করব। "

আসলে অনেকেই মনে করেন, রিটার্ন ফাইল না করলে হয়তো সমস্যাটাও এড়িয়ে যাওয়া যাবে।

কিন্তু বাস্তবতা ঠিক উল্টো।

রিটার্ন ফাইল না করলে IRS আপনার ট্যাক্স ভুলে যায় না। বরং সময়ের সঙ্গে সঙ্গে যোগ হতে পারে:

✔️ Late Filing Penalty
✔️ Late Payment Penalty
✔️ Interest

অর্থাৎ, আজ যে পরিমাণ ট্যাক্স দিতে হতো, কয়েক মাস পরে সেটাই আরও বেড়ে যেতে পারে।

যদি পুরো ট্যাক্স একবারে পরিশোধ করার সামর্থ্য না থাকে, তবুও রিটার্ন ফাইল করুন।

অনেক ক্ষেত্রে IRS-এর Payment Plan বা অন্যান্য সমাধান রয়েছে। কিন্তু সেগুলোর সুবিধা নিতে হলে প্রথমে রিটার্ন ফাইল করাটাই সবচেয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ।

Rushing your return just to meet the deadline can cost you more in the long run.

Filing an extension gives you time to get it right.

Just keep in mind, it extends your filing deadline, not your payment deadline.

Better to take your time and file correctly than rush and deal with issues later.
