Making money from a side hustle? Don’t wait until tax season to think about taxes!

A lot of people start earning extra income through consulting, delivery apps, online sales, real estate, or other side businesses and don’t think about taxes until they receive a 1099.

But being paid without taxes withheld doesn’t mean the income is tax free.

Keeping track of your income and business expenses throughout the year can make a big difference when it’s time to file. Depending on your situation, you may also need to make estimated tax payments during the year.

A little planning now can prevent an unexpected tax bill later.

If you have 1099 or self employment income and aren’t sure what you should be keeping track of, feel free to reach out to us!

Dear TaxPoint Community,
Thank you for your continued trust and support as TaxPoint continues to grow.

As we move forward, we’re placing a stronger focus on business tax returns and individual returns involving multiple sources of income or more complex tax situations.

With our combined background as an IRS Enrolled Agent and a former IRS employee, along with years of experience in tax and accounting, our goal is to provide thoughtful, accurate service and help clients understand the bigger picture, not just prepare a return.

To give each client the attention their situation deserves, we’re also updating our availability:
🏢 Office Visits: by appointment on weekends.
🌙 Evening Appointments: limited availability after 5 PM on weekdays.
💻 Remote Services: available throughout the week.

We truly appreciate the community that has supported us and look forward to continuing to serve you.

Do you normally take the standard deduction?

Starting with tax year 2026, you may still be able to deduct cash donations made to qualified charitable organizations, even without itemizing.

The limit is up to $1,000 for individual filers and $2,000 for married couples filing jointly.

Keep your receipts or bank records, and remember that donations made directly to individuals or personal fundraisers do not qualify.
