I attended the IRS Tax Forum in New York City last week. The good parts are hearing from top experts in our field, and getting a feel for “what’s next” at the IRS.
The bad parts are the exhaustion and turning your computer on to check emails for the first time in 7 days. At least it’s not busy season! Glad to be back!

We have a few days left to get extended returns completed and filed. Our goal is to have everything done by September 15th. Those few of you affected should have been notified my mail last week.

For those of you with the freshly released K-1 from MnSP in your hands, Dani cancelled all plans for the next two weeks and will be in the office Monday through Thursday 10-4 for dropping off the K-1 envelope and picking up finished returns. Better yet, scan them into your portals and save yourself the trip! She leaves again for IRS Tax Forum in New York, NY on the 15th so let’s make an effort to drown her in tax returns and get these things done!

On our third day at Tax Summit and Tate’s shirt made quite the impression on our speaker, AJ. AJ practices down the road in Sioux City, also known as SUX. Now that’s funny.

We’ll share what we learned, along with other exciting news, when we make our way back to the office.

We are aware that the missing K-1 from a certain soybean processing facility has been delivered. We hope to have the majority of those returns finished up before Dani heads to New York for IRS Tax Forum on the 15th.

Tate and Dani are off this week attending four days of Tax Summit in NOLA! Surprise, it’s cooler here than at home! Classes started at noon today and we’re here to learn! Our first break of the day included the New Orleans treat, beignets and coffee ☕️☕️

July 1!! 2026 is halfway done.

Reminders that payroll reports need to be filed and paid this month, including Form 941 and state unemployment.

2290 forms will be filed next week for 2026-2027 using the information we have unless you update us to any heavy highway use truck sales or purchases you have made since your last 2290 was filed. Thank you to those who have made those corrections already.

We are averaging 400 emails per day which makes it real easy for your information to get overlooked the first time through. We are implementing a new structure to avoid having that happen. In the meantime, your portal is the place for secure communication.

Our office is open every Tuesday from 9 am to 4:30 pm if you need to see us.

Have a happy and safe 4th of July celebration🎇🎆🎇🎆

My time in Washington, DC came to a close yesterday. As my term as Government Relations Committee Chair of NAEA comes to a close very soon, I need to thank you all for allowing me the time to serve my profession and raise my voice in support of you.
I’m sharing a few photos of my opportunities of this week. Please read the captions for my usual snarky commentary.

I am currently in Washington DC attending meetings and being a voice for my profession and my clients.

Nothing says welcome like having your email account hacked straight away upon arrival! I think we’re fine for now, but after 25 years, our email address will be changing.
As a reminder, when we say don’t send us sensitive information through email, this is why. Our provider caught it and shut my account down immediately but someone is still trying to get into my facebook account today.

We are done with the heaviest lifting of tax season. The hardest part of surviving another season is knowing that I might not ever see some of these folks again. None of us have guarantees that tomorrow will come. That reality has slapped me in the face pretty hard this week. Don’t ever think that you are “just a client” here. Relationships matter.
