We had to share this feel-good story that has it all: a wild ‘goose’ chase for love, the meeting of two birds of a feather, and – as you may have guessed – seemingly endless avian puns 🪿

You can watch the CBS News video at the link below, but the bird’s eye view of the situation is as follows: Blossom, a goose who resides at an Iowa cemetery, lost her mate, Bud, in early 2023.

Noticing Blossom was desperately lonely, the cemetery general manager decided to find a mate for Blossom by placing a personal ad about the situation. (Yes, really.) Enter Frankie, also a heartbroken widower – and importantly, also a goose.

On Valentine’s Day, Frankie’s owners brought him to the cemetery for a date, and the two took to each other like … well, a duck to water. They’ve been inseparable ever since, the culmination of a story that’s sure to give you goosebumps 💕

The question that keeps us all up at night: What tax filing status should I pick? 🤔

We totally understand. Perhaps this info will help:

☑️ Head of Household – Unmarried taxpayers who are supporting at least 1 qualifying person and paying more than 50% of the costs to keep up a home.

☑️ Qualified Widow or Widower – For taxpayers who recently lost a spouse and are supporting a child at home. If you could have filed jointly before your spouse’s death, you may file jointly in the year your spouse died.

☑️ Married Filing Jointly – You and your spouse combine your income and deduct your total allowable deductions and credits on the same forms.

☑️ Married Filing Separately – For high-income earners who are married, people who wonder if their spouses are hiding income, people considering divorce, or taxpayers whose spouses have tax liability issues.

☑️ Single – For unmarried people who don’t qualify for another filing status. Note: depending on your state, if you’re legally divorced by the last day of the year, the IRS considers you unmarried for the whole year.

Feel free to share this post with your friends and family so we can all get those precious 8 hours of sleep.

How does claiming cryptocurrency on your taxes even work? 🤔 It’s different than you may expect, so here’s a quick overview:

💰 The IRS considers cryptocurrency as a property or holding, meaning cryptocurrencies are taxed just like other holdings such as stocks.

💰 This means that if you hold crypto, you are expected to complete Form 8949 and Form 1040, reporting any gains or losses of cryptocurrencies.

💰 Form 1040 has a draft of the new form showing a dedicated field for “digital assets,” which can include NFTs.

TLDR: you’ll want to keep paperwork and records available if you acquire or sell digital assets (including NFTs) this year. If you have questions or need help with your next filing, let us know!

If you want to pretend you’re spending your summer in a seaside Italian villa, we have just the recipe for you 🍅 Here’s what you need for a fresh and light Caprese salad:

✅ 3-4 medium-sized tomatoes, cut into quarter-inch slices
✅ 12-16 oz fresh mozzarella, cut into quarter-inch slices
✅ 1/3 cup of fresh basil leaves
✅ Salt and pepper
✅ Extra virgin olive oil

How to make it: Lay your tomato slices out on a plate, then put a slice of mozzarella in between each tomato slice. Then, tuck your basil leaves in between each slice of cheese and tomato. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper, and you’re done!
